Default Edge racing High stall Torque converter (daily driven)

For those with this kit. Questions: How is the daily drive? does it slip? do you notice anything just drivin normally? does it slip until 3000rpm?

My car is supercharged and I know with this kit I could put down more HP to the wheels. I'm loosing alot of WHP with the stock set up. I do understand I need to get a tranmission cooler with the heat issue. I don't want to go around town slipping at each stoplight just driving normally either. But I do want to pound it and have the TC to put it down when I want. before I buy I just wanna know how is it for daily driven cars.

A high stall converter, generally speaking, is LESS efficient than a lower stall converter. You will increase your 1/4 mile performance because the engine will jump into the powerband before moving, rather than bogging without boost. You lose WHP due to excess slipping, lost as heat...

I had a high stall converter and actually got another one that was slightly lower as I preferred the more direct feel and engagement. The higher stall wasn't bad around town at all, but it did get hot. It's not as though the slip is that noticeable. The car still starts moving even with light throttle and low rpms...

So what was the stall set at on the second converter? 3000? and was your car dynoed? if so did you get the power down to the wheels versus lossing the normal 15-20% for stock converters on the dyno.

so does it make sense to lower the stall point then? cuz very often i feel it slip too much and i'm looking more to have a more direct feel (when doupling mode kick in) to improve the "drivability" on the street.. thx

The only thing a high stall convertor will do is benefit you in drag racing. Why not get the transgo shift kit and a large cooler unless you are planning on going to the track all the time.

I DD my car and occasionally take it to the track and all i have is a forged performance vb and a large trans cooler.

Well you can lower stall and I would for road racing where a high stall converter would overheat the fluid for sure, but Andre at Edge racing said I wouldn't be happy with one that was set too low. He said stock stall is 2300, despite what the FSM manual says. My GTM TC was around 3400 at low load and close to 5k rpms at 450 wtq. I wanted to go back to stock (what I thought was 2600-2900). He gave me something that stalls around 3k at low load and 4200 rpms on the dyno. It does feel better on the street and is a nice match for small turbos that fully spool up in the 3k range (like my 700bb). For road racing at 500 whp, I think a 2600 stall would be perfect with small turbos. But Andre is an expert and he said no, so I took his word over my theory.

so assuming the stock has 2600-2900, would lowering the stall to say 2000 be feasible?... although I already have the transgo and cooler installed.. there are still times that it seem slip a bit too much for me... thanks a lot for the help guys

I've had one sitting waiting to install. Anyone know if it's an easy install?
