/\ /\ /\ But does it work? Any pics of your custom shroud? Maybe we can all learn something from your set-up.
I just can't swallow shelling out $600 for the GTM version. That's ridiculous!!!!! And it's not even plug and play. You still have to either re-do your wiring or pay someone to do it, which is more $$$$$. Booo!

^ yep, definitely enough room. i removed the passenger side fan (right side in this pic), enlarged the hole, and installed a 14" spal. there is plenty of room left to install another 14" fan on the other side provided you get the spacing correct. vortech folks need to be mindful of clearing the blower & piping if they go with dual 14s though.

i got the mishimoto shroud from ebay lowballing a seller for 174$ shipped. as for the spal 14" im thinking of running dual 14". would the stock fuse be able to handle the extra amps and voltage? could i just wire the two 14" the way its diagrammed here and call it a day/>?

Big-C, I went with what you're doing. I couldn't find anyone to sell just the shroud. So I got the shroud with fans for $179 shipped. Then I picked up a 14" SPAL Pull Fan #30102042 for $105 shipped. I left the 12" on the driver side because I wanted to make sure would be room for the Vortech.
Currently I have 2 12" blackworks fans (similar to Mishimoto) on Mishimoto G35 radiator with no shroud. At idle in the AZ summer, the AC starts blowing warm, even though coolant temps dont rise, and this is without the Vortech on. I wanted to get this new fan setup on before I install the SC. Has this been working good for you?
I plan on installing tonight. What's the best way to cut? I'm planning on drawing a 14" diameter circle with a sharpie, and use a dremel to grind down to that point. Thanks for all the info in the thread.

yep, its working fine for me. when it came to cutting the shroud, i used a sharpie to mark the opening then tin snips to cut the opening. i then used a small hammer & dolly to flatten the metal back out (cutting with tin snips distorts the metal). afterwards, i went over the opening with a file, deburring/chamfer tool, and emery sandpaper to clean it up.

Got it done. Mounted the Spal, used a small screw driver to stick in and trace the inside diameter by scraping into the aluminum. Pulled the Spal off, used sharpie to trace the line. Used Dremel to cut it out, then used dremel to sand down inner smooth. Cleaned up and mounted. Came out great.
I called GTM initially to see if they would sell just their "12" 14" Vortech shroud" without fans, and they pretty much said they don't have the time to take apart a kit, figure out pricing etc. So this should work out great and for a hell of a lot less!

are all of you running the OEM radiator? I have a Vortech V2 and Koyo Slim radiator and i'm running the 12" Mishimoto fans. Except mine are wired wrong because the both come on then they will both turn off. They never stay consistantly on. I was thinking about getting a shroud and SPL fans from forged. I might just rewire my current Mishi fans the way you all have done it and see if it's necessary to buy a shroud and new fans. Does the Mishi shroud fit with a V2 SC and Koyo Slim Rad?

the mishimoto fan shroud will work with a koyo radiator, but you might have to bend a few of the top mounting tabs a bit (i did). the fitment around the edges could be better. i noticed some gaps so i used some HVAC foil tape on the seams to make sure there was a good seal between the radiator and shroud.

good to know that it fits with the koyo slim rad and vortech because if I can find a good price for that shroud that fits 12" mishi fans then I would rather do that then get the shroud from Sharif@Forged for $155 and have to get 13" fans for their shroud because thats the only size that fits their shroud supposedly.
well i rewired my 12" mishi fans, that are placed directly on my koyo slim rad, the way described on the first page of this thread. The way I had them wired was much different. It was wired blue/green to blue mishi fan wire, and yellow/black to black mishi fan wire. Or something like that. But it seemed to work fine because the fans came on when it was hot and they ran most of the time i was driving but i think they would simultaneously turn off when the temps are really high. but anyways ill let you know if i overheat still.

Can someone confirm that in the instructions outlined way back in post 12/16 we are actually cutting the wiring harness from the car itself, removing the shealth, removing the stock clips and exposing Green/Blue/Black/Yellow wires which are then subsequently wired/soldered as such:
Fan 1 Drivers Side
(1) Blue out – (2) Green In (350z harness)
(1) Black Out – (2) Black In (350z harness)
Fan 2 Passenger’s Side
(1)Blue Out – (2) Blue In (350z harness)
