Default Coilpack Wireharness connection order

I checked all over the service manual but couldn't find a diagram for this.

So while changing my plugs on the driver's side bank, I was getting carried away and instead of replacing 1 plug at a time. I decided to do them all instead of 1 at a time.

After all the plugs were changed and coil packs installed, I started to connect the wire connectors for each coil pack, when I realized... the connector for cyl 4 and 6 could reach each other.

I did what made sense and connected the coil packs from the end of the harness 1 at a time back.
(i.e. I connected the first connector at the end of the harness to Cyl 2, then 4, then 6).

Can anyone confirm this? I only ask because after my plug change, on the first start the Z started to misfire and then backfire.

Thanks!

If you pull back the wire cover a bit, #4 coil should have a gray wire, #6 will have a gray/red wire.

edit: this is assuming you have a DE engine

Yep, the wire color coding is show in the diagram for the ignition signal in section EC of the service manual. For 2007, it's on page EC-703.

I can't find a diagram now, but iirc, this is how it goes:

- Terminated end of harness connector goes to Cyl 2
- Middle connector goes to Cyl 6
- Closest to firewall connector goes to Cyl 4

My mistake in 2010 was connecting them in order which is what caused my misfire issues.

Along with this post, I'd like to update that Cyl 6 coil pack has died 2 times since I've owned this car. The first replacement coil was non-oem from ebay brand new. That lasted about 2 years. It died and was again replaced, but with a used oem pack from a G35. I'm happily running on this pack for 2+ years.

Default Fixed it!!

I checked my spark plug gap and the gaps were all too wide, all coil pack harnesses were in the right places. Is the capacitor supposed to have like a Caramel colored grease inside and on the two prongs?

I know this is an old thread but I did the same thing he did and took them all out at once. So this helped me out a lot!! Just curious if anyone knows the colours for the 4 other connectors

Default Harness order

[QUOTE=rhd350;11029085]I know this is an old thread but I did the same thing he did and took them all out at once. So this helped me out a lot!! Just curious if anyone knows the colours for the 4 other connectors. This helped me out . I did the saw thing. When I took mine down it was snowing out, and even though I marked and taped everything, moisture got inside and my marks and smudged, so you couldn’t read the numbers anymore. When I hooked up #2, I saw I couldn’t read the 4 and 6 any more. The wire is pretty close in length and it looked like I had them pointed to the right plugs on my harness.Nope , I had 4 on 6 and 6 on 4. I’m great full for this forum.
