Hello, I have an 03 enthusiast currently NA and was planning to switch it to e85, but will then need to be tuned to run corn along with other changes that im already aware of. so my question is what are my options for programing the ECU? A reflash, or entire ECU upgrade, just looking for some input. Also i do plan to go FI in about a year but for now im just building the motor.

For a start: ECU upgrade, bigger injectors (E85 has a lower power density), higher capacity fuel pump, replace rubber hoses with something that doesn't degrade when in contact with ethanol.

im aware of the need to have more fuel ect., are you running corn? what do you use for engine management

Nope, no major amount of ethanol for my car -- I even try to avoid the "10% winter mix" up here as much as possible.

you have to upgrade to a larger fuel pump (for na setup you could use a single intank walbro), you need larger injectors, and it is a MUST that you upgrade the rubber lines to teflon coated lines (offered through cjm). You can use anything to tune it since you are just tuning a standard fuel map.

you'll need roughly 1.4 times the amount of fuel to run e85 verses pump gas for the same power output.

so that means when you go FI later you'll need a twin pump setup and greater than 100cc injectors. I maxed 800cc injectors on a single walbro and pump gas with my vortech so you'll need much more than that to tune even a vortech.

So you’re Naturally Aspirated and you’re trying to switch to E85? Why? Seems like a lot of work for little return…

I’ll be running E85 after my motor build next year, I picked up the ProEFI Pro48 ecu, I would look into that.

If you plan on going FI later I would get a twin fuel pump setup now from CJM or an external A1000 fuel pump to handle the loads of fuel you will need in the future. That way when you have the FI setup in place the only thing that will change will be in the injectors. You will also need a return fuel system, make sure you have your lines etc.. teflon coated and you will want to run an additional inline fuel filter. The fuel filter is important because that E85 will clear all the crap out of your fuel tank etc... you will want to clean out the filter often when you convert.

thanks for the input guys. i plan to run 550 injectors and walboro 255 and from the sounds of it ill just get a reflash, and of course fuel lines. im not going to go with a twin fuel pump set up untill i need it. its to much overkill for my current set up
