Default CD009 Transmission - Concern about clutch

I have had the CD009 in my 2004 Z for about 6 years now with no problems. I only drive the car on sunny Sundays.

Lately I have noticed the clutch burning smell on quick take-offs and occasional down-shifts.

The clutch does not slip under hard acceleration (no jump in RPMs), and the engagement point is high-middle of the peddle range.

I have also noticed an occasional slight grind if I shift quickly into 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. Now that I noticed this, I shift slower, and only if the peddle is completely depressed to the floor (I don't want this problem to get worse).

Could be a worn clutch disk ? Glazed flywheel ? Sticking throw-out bearing ?

The grinding would be synchros being worn.. it's common less so in that tranny but they are not bulletproof.

I wouldnt be concerned if it doesn't slip.

The vq is a smelly engine, it could be that... Only way I could see the clutch smell is if you're burning it by not letting it out correctly.

2 to 3 grind, very common on a trans that gets banged around. Quick, smooth , precise is how you keep this trans going. 115k on my CD009 so far, no speed shifting
