Hose Identification - Help Please
2003 Z - DE Manual Trans
Can anyone help me identify these hoses or what they should connect to?
First Pic, the long hose that runs back towards the firewall to the front. Does it go to the connection there on the lower plenum?
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/68646126@N06/14415375489/" title="image by DirtMcGirt63, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3919/14415375489_23a74f86e2_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="image"></a>
Also, there is an L shaped hose coming out by the coils - what should that plug in to?
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/68646126@N06/14415348878/" title="image by DirtMcGirt63, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2905/14415348878_a9716cc13d_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="image"></a>
and last - the hose with the green cap, what should will that go to on the engine side.
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/68646126@N06/14601352042/" title="image by DirtMcGirt63, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3849/14601352042_13136452b4_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="image"></a>
Usually I would have this stuff all labelled if it was my project to start but I am working on someone else's mess.
any help is appreciated!

The pipe that is capped is normally connected to the PCV valve on the passenger side Valve Cover.
Looks like that car has/had water cooled turbo installed.
Catch can? That long hose and short hose probably had fittings that extended other hoses to a catch can. I would trace the long hose and see if it goes to the back of the drivers side valve cover.
Hose with green cap is part of the Evap system no? Used to connect to your EGR valve and had a vaccum line running through the stock fuel dampner bracket (odd but yeah..thanks nissan)

PCV valve
typical hose:
Large bung on back of driver side valve cover:
see the vaccum lines going through the metal bracket:
Could be way off on the EGR part...my car is so far from stock I have forgotten what OEM is.
Good luck!

That is such a huge help.
Looks like I will need a new hose to connect the PCV to the lower plenum.
As far as the EGR Valve goes I have an AAM return fuel system from when the car was FI (great call Cux, the car was FI, the motor I'm putting in never was) so the EGR Valve is mounted on the firewall, Once I have the hoses hooked up to that I'll check back with pics to see if it looks right.
I believe that long hose does go to the back of the driver valve cover. I will confirm. If I am running an NA set up will I need to put a catch can back in or what would be the stock location for this hose?
Cux on that pic with the polished upper plenum you have an open connection there as well - the short stubby one, not the long one in the lower plenum that you are guiding to the PCV Valve. It looks like mine is capped, do you know what would plug into that one, if anything?

I believe that last nipple is normally just covered with a cap, even stock. Unused typically but some people use it for a boost reference.
I may have the hose you need to go from the PCV to the Lower plenum.
The drivers side routes to the Ztube intake bung that is on the underside
Trying to think more on the EGR. It normally sits on the top of the plenum on that mounting tab at the rear. That not going to be a fun fix.

Hey Cux,
I went ahead & ordered a silicone hose from Z1 this afternoon, ended up being $11+shipping (not too bad) - thank you for keeping me in mind though
the CAI that came with the motor has that bung on the bottom bolted off ... so that's kind of odd - I'll have to trace that hose back and make sure that's what we are looking at & i'm guessing that hose would be shortned to bring it from the valve cover to the intake?
He had also bypassed the coolant lines to the bottom of the throttle body/upper plenum. Just used a copper connector and made it a straight hose. I went ahead & routed that back through the plenum .. basically just in an effort to try to have hoses where they should plug in.
Regarding the EGR, I went ahead & moved the AAM return fuel system to the NA motor so I'm going to leave it on the firewall. The wiring still matches up to it & I have one of those hoses going to the backside of the upper plenum/throttle body. so seemingly the other nipple will hold the evap system hose. Hopefully this works for me.
Thanks again

$11...you cant beat that!
Yeah that large hose must run to the back of the valve cover. The cai bung is closed off since it wasnt being used. Previous car definitely had a catch can. Shorten the hose and it back to the valve cover.

I may try to PM you also Cux if i don't hear back from you on this - you certainly seem to know your stuff.
I am all hooked up minus the vacuum hose off of the Aeromotive regulator.
any thoughts where this should feed in to?
thank you

Thanks again Cux, do you know if I can use the capped piece on the front of the plenum to get a vacuum on the FPR?

Also I am getting horrible backfire with where I am at. I have adjusted the FPR between 40 & 50 lbs and it still will not stop. I am not sure if it is vacuum, problem with spark, or just what.
I started digging & found I do not have a wire connected.
any idea where this should plug? It splits out of the wiring harness in the same place the plug for the EGR splits out.

Also, my EGR valve that is mounted to the firewall, I have the top hose running into the Upper plenum, lower hose running to the EVAP.
does this sound right?

that port works great. Plenty of people use it.
that connector looks like a cam position sensor connector. 3 pin and locking style.
Also check your drivers side coil pack signal colors..4 and 6 are easy to swap
I believe your egr house routung should be: (> is a hose)
plenum > egr > metal fuel dampner bracket>oem hose to the rear of the car

It went to a sensor right below passenger valve cover. Is that the cam position sensor? (Hahaha sorry for not being 100% familiar)
Either way those 2 fixes did the trick
