Default Clutch suggestions?

Hi Everybody... I have been surfing this site for a while but really wanted to be part of the family so I went ahead and saved up my pennies to buy a black 05 Z with 86k currently on it.. I make good money for being a 21 year old full sleeve tatted kid. I would really like to shift my earnings to make a badass looking Z.

I'd love to just hear your guys' input on things.. First off, I have to replace the clutch after only having the car for about 2 months... Granted I was not perfect with the clutch at first and I also had to explore the new found power under my feet I use this as a daily driver, eventually I would like to kick the WHP to about 350. So with that in mind, I need a clutch that will work for the time being and also preform with the later upgrades I plan on making...

Exedy has been all the buzz when I talk to anyone about a new clutch... I need to get the Flywheel and clutch.. I have also heard decent things about JTW.

Thanks for any input and hope to get to know you all.

welcome to the forum and congrats on the car. to burst your bubble you won't hit 350 who unless you go forced induction. when it comes to clutches it depends on what you need it for, your likes, and who much you want to spend. there isn't a lot of spoon feeding that goes on in here... do some research

Thanks for reply... 350 was not an exact number, my point was that I would like to increase hp eventually down the road and want a clutch do be able to handle it, not have to buy another... I have done a bit of research and that's why I would like to ask the people have experience with Z's and been there/done that.

I also mentioned that I use this as a daily driver so that answers your "what you need it for" question... Being a new z owner I don't know what I like because I simply don't have experience with this caliber of a car, I previously drive an 02 spectra.... I also mentioned in my post that I make decent money... something that isn't the bottom of the barrel but doesn't have to be able to handle an absurd amount of hp...

Just was asking for some help on making a decision based off previous people's experiences...

i am leaning towards the southbend setup personally, for a daily driver one combo that is fairly popular and decent price is the JWT. you can get it from Import Parts Pro from houston for a good price

+1 to Import Parts Pro and +1 to the JWT clutch / flywheel package.

Any non-dual mass flywheel is gonna make your car chatter like crazy. Very very annoying to most people. I would stay factory flywheel, you can thank me later

Southbend setup or the JWT. I had the JWT and I loved it. Chatter wasnt too bad it did however sound like a bunch of marbles when idling.

The South Bend was a bit more quiet than stock, and a replacement DMF from the dealer will run you about a grand. You can resurface the factory flywheel if the shop is familiar with working on a DMF.Other than that you have to go aftermarket.

Jeeze, thanks so much for all the replies guys... I kept checking but my computer must not have been updating correctly... I called a Z sports shop near me.. They recommended Exedy brand... I purchased Part Number: 06952FW (Stage 2 with NF04 Chromoly Flywheel, I wanted to be confident that I wouldn't have to replace again ) and have had absolutely nothing but problems.... Starting out in first it sounds like Its going to fall out of my car... Extreme grinding...In order to not grind I need to launch from like 3k rpm...

I didn't install, say what you will.. please don't rag on me too hard.. What could this be? When I first start the car its not too bad at all no grinding noise really at all... after driving 30+ minutes, If I need to slowly pull into a parking spot or something... I am embarrassed to get out of the car it sounds so bad.. and LOUD! Sitting in neutral it sounds like I have a f'n diesel truck.... Bearings? warped? bad clutch? incorrectly installed? I also JUST had slave and master cylinder replaced because my pedal would not go in deep enough to engage in 1st....

Having a meltdown people... :,(

Update if anyone cares. Redsx13 was spot on. Everything I have not read/ experienced and seen says the chatter and noise is normal. The dealership I went too never told me to resurface the flywheel or do anything with it, they just told me to buy a new one. Wish I would have spent a few more hours looking into the actual chatter noise. Is there any bearings that might be causing excessive chatter noise?

There isn't much you can do. It's one of the joys of this platform.

Welcome and congrats on the new car. Good clutches mentioned above; I got the SB stg. 2 clutch and their 19 lb. flywheel and very happy with that combo.
