Question Clutch options with drifting in mind

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to get out on the track with my Z (HR) and having some trouble determining the best clutch for my needs. I daily my car and intend to drift once a month or so. However, I'm not a ***** when it comes to clutches, I've streeted many a 6 puck or unsprung disk.

So far, I like the reviews I've read about the JWT kit with flywheeel, however its a full face organic disc which I have never used one for drifting in previous cars. Does anyone drift on this set up without issue? I usually stick to 6 pucks. Spec stage 3 was my weapon of choice for multiple past cars.

Second option, the Z1 Kit with 6 puck disk. I like the disk, however I've read very mixed reviews. Some love it, others say its just re-branded junk like whats on eBay.

I was thinking maybe use the JWT pressure plate and flyweel, and swap in the Z1 6 puck disc. But are there any better options out there for around $800-900 with flywheel included? I don't really want to get into super expensive multidisk clutches.

I'm kinda limited in options too given I have the vq35hr. However any input is appreciated.

Been using a south bend 6 puck sprung clutch with 606hp drifting for a few years. Has not let me down yet.

Nice, the SS-DXD right? What flywheel may I ask? Also, are is it an HR or DE?

Thanks

Finding parts and info for the HR is a pain.

If you're at stock power levels then just use a stock clutch and if you want a lighter or new flywheen then change that when you're in there. I'm turbo with 7psi and running a stock clutch just fine

Good to know, thank you.

My main concern is over heating and slippage, not necessarily holding power. I am essentially stock power but some of the tracks around here require 5 - 10 clutch kicks in a run. Will the organic disc of a JWT "stockish" clutch hold up to that?

Lol, thanks for the "help" guys. If anyone else has input please chime in.

I managed to do this last week on stock VLSD and clutch. Guess I'll just rock it till I brake it.

Lol thanks. I've been drifting since 06, stopped to get a degree, and just started again. I'm taking the rear camber out after new toe arms (I maxxed the bolts out limiting the camber) from -2.5 to probably about -1 for moar grip.

I haven't drifted, but I did have a jwt clutch and have had a car with a 6 puck, and for what it is worth i really liked it. It did have a relatively soft engagement though, as in if I revved it and dumped the clutch it would still slip for a quarter second or so before it completely locked. Similar to a stock clutch. It was not like a six puck where if the clutch is out there is no slip.

Dont mind the elitest bs from those guys, drifting is a fun sport and one they obviously havent tried.

They are just mad that the 350z is cheap enough to drift and not worry about now.

I am running a wilwood master, heavy duty slave and JWT clutch setup, we will see how it handles this weekend. I have an event on Sunday.
