Need Help With 350z engine swap
Hello Guys. Hows your day going. Im new here because im about to purchase my first car. And I have fell in love with the 04 350z. There is just a small problem with the one Im looking at. It has 200k miles. So I would like to do something about that. What do you guys prefer to do. I could rebuild the engine and then twin turbo it. Or I was looking at swapping the engine for a rb26 or similar. I wouldn't do this because I do not have the tools. So I would pay someone to do it. I would love to have a rb26 due to the power plus I could turbo it and so on. What do you guys think?. I have around 7k right now plus the 10k for the 350z. What are your guys ideas?

Sine you're new let's explain a few things. Assess the VQ carefully before you decide to purchase. Pay a pro technician to do a detailed analysis and realize there could be other components that need replacing before pulling the engine. I'd highly recommend you learn to drive the Z with stock HP/TQ BEFORE trying to do anything else.

You have a lot to learn, starting with an expensive engine swap is not the way to do it. Without doing the work yourself it will be a lot more than $7k, I bet closer to $15k.

Car I would pay most 8k If in good condition. 3k for engine and 1k swapping it. Leaves you at 12k another 1k for suspension and anything else that is needed. Left with 4k add 2k and get an turbo and your good. Don't listen to those guys as they like to over exagrate everything.

If you want shops to do every thing it will be stupid expensive. When every thing is said and done ill be close to $4,000 and all i having the machine shop do is bore the block and assemble a short block.ill be doing the rest of the install in my garage.

why dont you just take your 7k plus your 10k and put 4k back in the bank and spend $13k on a normal mileage Z?
keep it completely stock and learn how to drive it, maintain it and read up/keep current on the forums?
Yes, everyone starts from somewhere but nobody starts day 1 with the car and day 2 an RB swap...at least nobody that asks the questions you've been asking...

+ $0.02: N/A Z is plenty fast imo.
