Thumping noise from rear of 04Z. Chime in its driving me cray
Hello, so i purchased a very well kept Z several states away and drove it home about two weeks ago. Car is an 04 with just shy of 62k miles no accident history or anything of the sort. Well last week while driving it after fifteen or so minutes what sounded like i had a flat rear tire. I pull over and the tires are all fine (80%) thread. So i kept driving and still heard a thumping and slight trunk vibration from the rear right side of the car. Its hard to explain the noise but as best as i could describe it sounds like flapping wind against something or a tire thump as if it were flat. The noise is at any speed and usually starts at about ten to fifteen minutes of driving. Never when the vehicle is first driven.
Air pressure is all good. Tires are good with no lumps or anything. Ive tried my friends rear tire and i still hear the same thing so i had to eliminate the idea of a crap tire.
Can anyone chime in and let me hear your thoughts on the matter. Everything underneath the car looks normal and i do not believe the noise could be a bearing because it quite frankly sounds exactly like a flattening tire.
I have OCD and this noise is driving me insane. Please help!

Could be a flat spot on the tire from like an e-brake drift. That'll thump like a *****... Look and see if the rear tires have horizontal wear patters as if the wheels were skidding sideways.

So problem solved. It was the rear brake caliper and disc. Who ever replaced the pads on the car before i purchased it put the bolts to the calipers in the wrong spots since theyre diff lengths. The disk was severely eaten on the inside part and the caliper was sticking. Changed both parts and its all good now. Ppffew
