Default Requesting Z1 Mild Clutch Kit Reviews

Has anyone had any bad experiences with the Z1 mild clutch kit I should know about before buying it?
So far I've only heard good things, and the price for the kit and flywheel/ss braided clutch line combo is really attractive.
Here's a link: https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pro...bo-p-2405.html

Thanks

Z1 is a pretty stand up company that doesn't sell junk, I would bet you are safe buying it

yeah, I could've guessed, I have the Z1 hatch struts and They're solid. Just don't have much time to do more research on it so i figured I'd gather some different opinions.

Z1 or ZSpeed, you're good either way, but the Z1 has a lighter flywheel.

I'm also thinking about it instead of the Southbend

So, I've been reading mixed reviews from some people about this clutch. Some say it's just fine, others say it's worse than OEM......
see for yourself: https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...z1-clutch.html

I'm seriously f###ed if this clutch has issues. My bank account's running dry.....

So after some consideration, I'm just going with the JWT clutch and flywheel w/ ss clutch line and nismo needle bearing combo for 775 shipped.

I calculated shipping costs for the z1 clutch/flywheel combo and it came out to about 650. I might as well pay 125 more for some peace of mind.

My only question is, does the JWT clutch have an OEM feel, or is it more performance oriented? I've read It's somewhere in between and I'm wondering how bad it would be in LA bumper to bumper traffic...

I didn't really see any specific details in that thread to sway me one way, or the other. One guy said the flywheel sucked, but gave no explanation. How can a flywheel "suck"? When It comes time on my '08, my plan is to get a least one step up from OEM, whatever that "step" actually is, and I'll probably talk to the vendors on the phone first. I've got almost 70K on my OEM clutch and hydraulics, so I guess I'm pretty easy on that system, but my emphasis is always on being smooth.

I would shy away from the Nismo needle bearing, been a lot of bad results with it

Alright, Concept Z Performance has a good deal: https://my350z.com/forum/drivetrain/...-in-stock.html

I know there weren't any legitimate claims against the z1 clutch combo, but everywhere I looked it seemed to be a regular opinion that it was inferior to the JWT combo, and I don't exactly have the budget for trial and error right now.

Thanks for the heads up about the nismo bearing terrasmak, I'll stay away.

I'm not sure how credible this is, but I read someone was complaining about the southbend pressure plate on another forum. He was saying it caused clutch judder.

Z1 Mild Clutch kit is made by Exedy. I've ran it since 2013 without any problems and on a couple of track days. Grabs great on WOT shifts and is plenty smooth with a light clutch pedal.

The flywheel chatters pretty loud, but I don't mind it.

Zero issues to report from my end.

Good to hear. Honestly Z1, Southbend, and JWT all seem like solid brands and it's probably safe to go with any one of them at this point, though I'm still going with JWT. That combo deal is sweet.

I've actually read a few people saying the JWT clutch was an Exedy clutch too.

Survived a year and counting of drifting at 447whp/401tq. Sorta forgot to upgrade it and never had a problem with it.

I have had JWT clutch and flywheel on for a little over a year now with no issues. I also got zspeed csc and HD master cylinder installed at the same time. With that combo the clutch is WAY stiffer than oem that's for sure.

If you just need a solid upgrade from stock and don't want to break the bank.
Our Stage 1 replacement kit with flywheel would be a good option for you, This kit will be MUCH quieter than one with a super light flywheel and drive much better than stock.
http://www.zspeedperformance.com/ZSP...SPNSK1PACK.htm

This one will be very similar to the JWT, Just much, much quieter.
http://www.zspeedperformance.com/Sou...t-Quiet-DE.htm

If trans rattle noise doesn't bother you, the above kit can be had without the quiet disk option for about the same price as the JWT combo.

There is such a lack of info about this, what about the southbend quiet disk mated with zsp ductile heavy flywheel or the z1 performance 25lbs flywheel, to tell the truth we want quiet and we want single mass ... By now is not about performance by 2016 we have found the hardway that the dual mass flywheels go out specs and produce flex making RPM jumping... What is the most quiet setup ... ??? I'm making my purchase in the next week and since my flywheel flexes when put in heavy load .... And I feel we need to start giving names , who makes who exedy, you guys ,southbend ? We want support independent store like ZSP since is more cheapo..
