FritZman:

I don't know for sure what gaskets are to replace them but I know that you can change them w/o pulling out the heads!

Westpak:

Dynos have too many factors when you do a poll... I have several #' with differents mods (I have around 45 polls on the dyno, very cheap for me ) You can't say what mod can or can't give with other cars polls... mine for example did the worse #'s just before I put the cams, them when I did the dyno with the cams the car put 20 rwhp and 20 rwtq more, so I can say that the cams give the car 20 at wheels because thats was the # for baseline... I know for sure that when I do the next dyno poll the car will put more whp, you will see

btw I also saving up for the TT

Yeah, I know the results can't be compared directly, I wish there was a way to do it though. I just figured that with the cost of the cams and headers plus install it would be be a good chunk of what I need for the TT kit as I have reached my limit of DIY mods, after test pipes I decided I would definetly not tackle headers and for sure not the cams. But 20 RWHP is definelty tempting.

I've always been under the impression that cams are sort of the "icing on the cake" for NA cars, so to speak. Once all the other bolt-ons are done, cams can provide huge (comparitvely speaking as far as other NA mods, that is) gains.

I put the TS ECU flash "Limited Spec"

The car feels much stronger between gears... the theory of keeping up the Rev. limited between gears because of the cams having the peak hp on 6450 is very true... well this is on the "butt dyno" but in the street, it was what I was looking for.... Dyno soon to see if any whp was lost or gained after 6600

Can you do the JWT cams with a turbo setup? I thought that NA cams couldnt be used for forced induction.

Yes The jwt cams are good for F/I they provide increased lift and duration allowing more air to be forced in. I visited Boulder Nissan
on tuesday and saw the two cars they are building .

both are built with forged internals with greddy kits with intentions of running 25 psi . They are using the crawford plenum and the JWT cams which they said was a must for this kind of setup. They also have the nismo cams but opted for the JWT cams because of their lift and duration profiles worked better for F/I than Nismo.

Also a good idea to use titanium valve spring retainers with cams that increase lift.

BTW about the Dyno the car practicly stay the same but the hp stay on up to 6900 rpms... the best of it is when I run on the street, you can feel the car pushing between gears and feel like 7100 rpms is not enough
btw I only have the "limited Spec" (rev. limiter, Speed limiter and TB drive by wire fix) Fuel, timing, valve timing, ect. are stock!

What are the best cams for FI applications? And how much are they?

Well thawk408 you are on the right thread for that JWT cams 1150 roughly.

Local shop here in colorado is building a 350z engine with the greddy tt system. They are going to be running 25 psi with forged internals. The best cam in their oppinion is the JWT cams becaused of their increased lift and longer duration.

How much power would the JWT cams add to the Greddy TT kit? Assuming that the kit was straight out of the box running on its 5.6 psi. Also, are there different stages of the JWT cams, or is there just one?

just a rough estimate but on a tt setup should add 20-25 rwhp minimum. from what they said these cams really compliment any kind of F/I very well

Do you need to use different valve springs or is it ok to use the factory ones?

So cams will be a nice addition for superchargers as well? I only know of one Z that has done this and his numbers are high. What is the going rate on cam shaft installs?

Also check out Performance Nissan as they have good prices on JWT cams.($1050)

cams are going to seriously increase power on f/i, at 8 psi expect about 25-30 whp diff, the biggest diff will be where it makes the power, they allow you to customize where in the rpm range you make power low down or high revving

I assume that the JWT cams are good for at least 30+ rwhp on FI... my JWT cams on N/A ware good for 20 rwhp & 20 rwtq

webcar, do you have your winpep dyno files (for runviewer)? If so, i'd appreciate if you or anyone else who has a JWT cam'd Z dyno on file please send the file(s) to me:

The most common dyno software they use at the shop to collect and print the dyno sheet also lets you save the file to a disk so that you can take the data home. They're useful in overlaying one dyno graph on top of another to make the differences clearer.
