I would just be concerned in spending more money on tools than just sending it out somewhere. But I suppose if you already had a compressor, grinders, etc it would be a fun little after-work project. *sigh?* I just wish I could get someone to do mine for less than 300 bones.

You dont need a Compressor, a regular variable speed hand drill will do.
You will also need an aluminum polishing kit like this ( http://www.princessauto.com/tools/po...-polishing-kit) approx $24.99
and a few grinding discs/wheels as well.

and lastly...you will need a lot of time, patience , sweat , and more time!!!!

Nice. I wished I had gotten a chrome one instead though--polished requires upkeep.

i polished my plenum last winter and oh man, never again...waaay too much work.

Whew... I'm about 6-7 hrs into mine right now... It sucks haha! Wish it would be done already. Great post! It's what led me to start on mine

Thanks for the DIY write up, I'm working on mine. We have a huge air compressor at work which helps a ton as far as time. Nice write up!

so its been almost 5 years since I competed this project. The plenum still looks good just needs a quick hand polish a few times a year.
