Welding my differential help wanted
Hi everyone, im welding my diff this weekend so i wanted to get some tips and tricks.
How long does it take to weld it?
How difficult is this journey that i am about to take (my welding experience is 0)
On the rtv it says allow 24 hrs to cure before putting oil in, is that 100% necessary?
Has anyone else done this with limited experience like me and it come out alright? How nervous did it feel?
Im actually very excited and not nervous at all, just want as much info as possible so if a situation comes up i dont freak out, thanks for the help in advance!

So your going to try your first weld on a dif?
All I can say is good luck. Welding a dif isn't too difficult on the spectrum of welding.
But for your first time that is quite a main component to learn on... Do you even know what exact links you need to weld to lock it?
Just take it to a shop. Spend the $20 - $50 for a actual welder to booger weld it. Shouldn't take more than 10 - 20 min tops. Including talking to them of what you want done.
Welding takes a lot more than just spark n go.

Eh, 150 to take it out "labor" plus 100 just for the diff... Id rather risk it do it myself i mean yeah its risky but im not an idiot ive seen ppl do it and i get the basics, dont go too fast, dont set wire speed too high, make sure its puddling before you continue, clean everytime you stop and start a weld
If i **** it up somehow, then ill return the welder and purchase a welded diff

In for results... Take lots of pictures and share... I was under the impression you needed to make a bracket then weld that bracket onto both sides to lock it... Also good luck daily driving and u turns... Ive driven a JD gator with the rear axle locked and it didn't steer very well.
