You need to go over to hybridz.org for more info although I'm sure there's folks here that have done this swap.

Specifically, here. Although I think that the swaps discussed deal more with S30 - which makes sense due to its original L6 config.

Go for a NON VVTI if ya can and don't even think of running the original Twins. Swap to single should be first priority. Trust me Check out Tweaked performance for the harness. They will do any harness and are top notch. They might even be able to help with some questions with regards to what ECU or combo you'll need. The rest just gather for various places like the one posted above.

Im currently in the beginning stages of this swap as well.

I went with a non-VVTI 2JZGTE as I bought my motor a couples years back but the trend right now is to go with a VVTI motor which help increase the torque/power on the low end.

The current setup I have so far:

03 track 350Z
Non VVTI 2JGTE (front sump) from aristo motor
Precision Trubo 6766 JB
FIC 1650cc injectors
Brand New CD0009 6 spd transmission
Colins JZ/350z trans Adapter kit (Adapter kit w/ twin disc clutch)
Treadstone Cast manifold
Tial MVR 44 wastegate

What is left to order...
Dual fuel pump hanger setup (2x walbro 412s)
Custom length Drive shaft
Fuel lines (rated for E85) 2x -6an from pumps to -10an under car split to 2x -6an at the fuel rail on each side)
Fuel rail -6an in's on each side, -6an return line
Standalone ECU ( would love Proefi but may settle for MegaSquirt)
Wiring harness
Intercooler/piping
Exhaust.
and a bunch of little odds and ends im sure.

What I have seen is that the stock 2jz mounts will bolt right into the stock 350Z motor mount slots on the cross member. but the issue with that is that the motor sits kind of far up toward the front of the car, leaving little room for fans and radiator. Then if you make you own mounts and push the motor back as fas as possible it pushes your shifter location way back and you have to modify the shidter linkage, actually you need to modify the linkage regardless but the less you take out the better as it will end up felling less notchy when shifting.

What people have done to overcome this is to remove the plastic radiator support and make a custom one which will give you more room for fans, rad, etc...

The thing im trying to get a handle on rt now is the wiring and what if any of the the car's stock creature comforts are controlled by the ECU and how to adapt them to the new harness/ECU like VDC, Navigation, AC, lighting systems, etc.

the 350Z shell I picked up last week is a full roller but its missing the Alternator harness, engine harness, ECU, motor/trans. So im trying to figure out how to get a battery in the car with out needing to purchase those missing harnesses....

i'll add some pictures soon

Call or email Tweaked Performance... FYI VVTI motors have slightly weaker internals and need a knowledgeable VVTI tuner.

Completely agree. Put a G10 motor in it and call it a day

How many replies will it take before you decide to just not do this? It's pretty obvious that it takes a lot of work and money.

If you have the money, pay someone to do this research for you and build it. If you don't have the money for that, please don't do this swap.

I will say it again: if your current DE is starting to reach the end of it's life, rebuilding or buying another DE will be a much better option.

I guess it really just depends on the financial/mechanical capabilities of the OP and what he wants out of the car.

The few days I've been on the site the more it feels like the z32 (300zxclub.com) community. Everyone thinks they know what's best for your car. Instead of offering credible information regarding the topic they just put the other person down.

The guy may be a dreamer, he may not but just in the beginning stages of his research but so what. Instead of bashing, dig up examples of how bad *** the VQ motor is. Such as sound performances 1250hp TT 350z. There are tons of example of powerful VQs out there, use the data to persuade. We should pump people up about their projects not try and kill someone's dreams.

G10 engine it and call it a day!!! Now that's funny!

It's quite clear OP has little mechanical or theoretical knowledge.

He also posted this gem about FI VQ's:
