I'm sure its because of the PS3. I'm hoping that the v2 360 has the HD drive built it so I'll probably end up buying that.

I think it would boost sales a little as far as HD-DVD goes. I sure wouldn't mind buying a few movies in HD-DVD. I've been meaning to use an HDMI port on my TV anyway lol

This is why in the end the PS-3 and Blu Ray will win. There are simply too many Sony fanboys. BTW, F1 for PS-3 came out today.

Hence why I am happy to wait until a clear format winner appears and the other one dies off! That or a universal player like the LG that was built but not introduced.

Thats a shame. Sony Bites. They charge a huge royalty for their products and install rootkits onto computers without users permission. I for one will not buy Sony if I can help it. Besides... the Porn insdustry has already settled on the HD-DVD format. Hah!

Thanks man! I stand corrected. I was under the impression that LG had built it, but the "big guys" were using their clout to keep it from being released.

The Porn industry settling on HD-DVD doesn't mean squat anymore. They don't have an iron grip on the recording & redistribution industry that they use to. They do still have influence; however they are not a deal breaker.

Found the LG BH-100 review on CNET.

http://reviews.cnet.com/LG_BH100/450...tag=prod.txt.1

Looks like some small kinks need to be worked out (e.g. it cannot read the HD-DVD's HDi layer yet) which is understandable for a new product.

Better? Egh yes but not even x2 better imo. It offers more titles but a TON more crap titles or fluff titles. It also offers alot more bad transfer titles than hd-dvd (ie not worth a rebuy or a premium buy over their dvd counterpart). HD-DVD has tons of potential content but universal isnt releasing it! Its kindof like suicide as opposed to blu-ray actually winning.

yeah that's true...i've noticed a lot of bad transfers coming to blu ray...seems like they're rushing them out there, but only people who know their technology would be able to tell the difference...average joe idiot consumer who just bought a PS3 just wants some cool new blu rays...that's where the sales disparity comes in

Beta was better than VHS, but VHS won because it was more accepted

irony here is Beta was a sony format

I'm sure I left out a lot of detail, but let's not derail this thread

I am not the least bit interested in either format right now. I have over 400 DVD movies in my collection and the last thing I want to do is re-buy the damn things.
