Default james cameron's new documentary

Jesus's tomb found in Holy Land?
Filmmakers and researchers unveiled two ancient stone boxes they said may have once contained the remains of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, but several scholars derided the claims made in a controversial new documentary. (Feb. 26)

Those tombs were found in 1980 and I seriously doubt that they belonged to Jesus and his supposed son. The only claim I've seen of such is simply that the coffins listed the names of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, etc. Well, those were very common names back then. It's not enough for proof. It's possible but not proven.

We were talking about it here too.

Odds of it being the actual tomb are about 1,000,000 to one. Those were all Very common names in those days. It would be like finding a tomb with bones from John, Mary and Joe in an American cemetary.

Out of curiosity, how would it strengthen the credibility of the bible? There is little doubt that most of the people in there lived and died. The questions are when and how much of a particular story was true. They come up with this stuff for publicity purposes. It doesn't prove or disprove anything IMO.

Doesnt matter if it promotes or disproves the bible, any jesus movie/book and the church folk go crazy, always scared that a simple movie/book will destabilize their empire and hold on peoples minds.

I wonder if it ever get finished and most importantly get played in theaters
Remember Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ", if anything it only help promote Jesus, yet the church folk started pissing themselves, it got to be delay, never played in theaters (well a few), and hard to even rent(blockbuster banned the movie for many years).

Yeah i have it on DVD. i really liked the movie

back in college (one of my degrees was in Philosophy of Religon) i brought it to class and we watched it for this class i took called
"Historical Jesus Seminar"

funny thing was most of the people who wanted to blow up scorsese didnt even see the movie.

i mean if you watch it even from a harcore christian point of view i dont see how you could be offended. it was a temptation by him choosing to go back to the cross it only reinforced what christians believed at the same time showing his humanity.

i saw james cameron on larry king the other night, they are basing alot of it on the statistics of names and the DNA from some residue.

i'll probably check it out sunday just cause im interested in the subject matter

Willem Dafoe and Harvey Keitel did a near perfect job.

I used small fragments of the film for a small presentation I did, the author Matthew Alper who wrote "The "GOD" Part of the Brain" like enough to give me a sign copy of his book, a good read if your into to that stuff BTW

The movie was just a movie about a man named Jesus and since being human he fall under the same temptation of everyone. What he accomplished is made more impressive for the fact his is flawed like all people. Doesnt matter if you believe he was just a great guy, or the son of God it still only glorifies him

The church got angry because Jesus wasnt betrayed as perfect or what they wanted him to be, they want the super perfect man and a movie that make you feel pity. Like "The Passion of the Christ" so people well feel bad enough to go to church, and they can hold huge rallies to capture people

BTW there are already huge petitions on the internet and letters to Cameron in attempts to prevent this movie.
You should read some of the stupid comments on various movie forums, IMDB that a bunch.

I dont understand how the so called faithful ,fear everything that may challenges their beliefs. For people that believe the bible is fact, they sure get scared of something as simple as a book or movie, written by a simple man. If they are so faithful why do they fear something so minor?

i saw it the first week in theaters back in the days before they pulled the film off the projection rooms. i thought it was great they had Dafoe playing jesus. FYI...Wilem Dafoe was discovered by hollywood because they thought he had the face of the devil.

Dafoe and Klaus Kinski both played similar villains back in the days.

Apparently he is saying that the 'residue' matches another tomb they found a while ago somewhere else that said 'james, brother of jesus'. The bible mentions james as his brother at some point apparently.

i saw that they said the DNA of the "jesus" tomb didnt match the tomb of mary magdalene so they are saying they must have been married since they were buried together and not blood related

People can believe anything they want if it makes them happy. They should just stay off my f**ing porch, unless they can tell me why they think their God is a male(must have a penis then). Why would a God need such a thing? Something to do with the angels? Makes no sense.
