Looking for new head phones. Any opinions on what kind to buy?
I'm in the market for a new set of ear bud style head phones for my mp3. My OEM set blew out from all the totaly rad music i listen to. I'm interested in the BOSE set, but while shopping at Best Buy, i noticed they had a few other brands. Some were listed for $300!!! I can't believe ear buds could be sooo crazy expensive! I'm hoping to stay at or under $100. Does anyone have experience with the BOSE ear buds or any other brand? I prefer this style for working out and when keeping it real
Also, where is the best place to buy? Should i shop online? Trust Ebay?? Or does anyone have a set they want to sell me?
bose is overrated...... and the triport's are weaksause.
Do you want an open/closed headphone? open leaks music out so a person next to you will hear it.....closed is more isolated.
Open headphones tend to have a larger soundstage while closed headphones will tend to have a more personal feel.
look into ultrasone HFI's the prolines will bring out the flaws of your source so if you're recording with low grade stuff (lossy) you shouldn't get those.
good thing about ultrasone's is that they have s-logic technology which mimic's the way you hear sound naturally. Instead of having the drivers blast sound directly into your ear, Ultrasone has the sound come at you from different directions. This results in less fatigue when listening to your headphones for long periods of time.
Maybe try grado 225 if you're into high's and mid's of music.
Try going to head-fi.org to do some research. Those people are headphone freaks.
If you're really into clean sound there are headphone amps..that you can plug into your ipod. They do make a difference but the overall signature sound of the headphone will remain.
good luck!
awh ****... i didn't fullread your post lol...... if this is used for working out..just use some crappy phones....as you're probalby going to replace them pretty quickly anyways...lol
So what kind do you own? I am looking for some good whole-ear headphones.
If you can afford the bose quiet comfort series, get those. I've used a friend's several times and they are AMAZING...
If not, I have the philips sbc hn110 which are a good budget option for noise canceling, no complaints. I would give the Bose QC a 9/10 and the philips about 7/10
Looking at this link, even the most expensice set of ear buds are only $90. Can they be that high quality for not that much money? You don't have experience with the buds huh? Just the phones?

correct, I do have the MX400 that I use on non-comercial airplanes (I wear ear defenders over them if I need to keep out engine noise) But they are nothing to write home about.
The HD 580 and 600 are amazing, and easy to wear a long time. When I lived in an Apt I used them all the time,I don't know anyone that has wanted good headphones and I let them listen, that hasn't bought them (the HD650 are the new top model) If you lived close I would hook you up.
A headphone amp may be needed because the best home audio doesn't have built in headphone jacks.
Maybe i'll pick up the buds from them? Can't hurt i guess? Anything is better than than my busted up OEM pair that hurt the bajesus out of my ears. I didn't notice a shopping cart option for them though? Either i missed it or i'll have to find a pair elsewhere. I'm SURE nobody in North Dakota has them.

do a search, you don't want to pay retail. Ubid is where I got some of mine when I used to use that site(not the 600s)
OK... so my iPod headphones just failed this week after 3 years of use since I got my iPod Mini back in 04. (The right bud is no longer producing sound).
I was wondering if any members here use these V-MODA Vibe earphones. I have been reading a lot of good stuff about them in reviews on specific distributors' websites and from CNET, but I wanted to see if I could get some more opinions. Someone suggested Shure headphones but they are quite expensive and they are probably meant for true audiophiles. I just want really good sound with some amount of noise cancellation. (Not the kind you get with the Bose, but decent noise isolation design).

I got a pair for home computer use!!! They work well! Back when I got them I was actually thinking about getting the MDRV700DJ instead but every review I read stated that they cracked at the areas where you adjust the length. The ones I have haven't failed for the long time that I have had them.
But as for the iPod I just want in ear headphones or around ear headphones that won't make me look like a space cadet on the bus.
