Why wouldn't they include it? What, do people not use muscle cars or race on oval tracks in real life?
And your opinion doesn't count in here if you think F2 sucked. Because it didn't.
muscle cars have no place in a racing game in my opinion. and being forced (as you always are when they are included) to race them is annoying. and oval tracks in a video game are again, boring and stupid. in my opinion.
and yes. Forza 2 was really lame. note: i never used the wheel, if that made a huge difference. I never enjoyed playing it like I did the GT series. If it isn't as good as Gran Turismo then I simply don't care.

You have some pretty low standards then. GT4 sucked and GT5P sucks. I played it once and never touched it again.

The only thing GT games were better at was graphics. The AI and physics were better in Forza. Sony and Polyphonal Digital must be afraid of Forza3, because they STILL haven't release that game and at this point Forza3 will likely beat it to the shelves.
Your views are wildly misguided my friend.
A GT500 (muscle car) can make it around a track just as well as many other cars, and would defeat a 350Z. An old school Camaro used to be one of the cars that was raced -- it hasn't always been about sports cars. Besides, if you don't want to use a car, don't do that race? It isn't like the tracks are not repeated. Many of the races do no restrict you to a specific car unless its a Manufacturers Cup or similar.
Oval tracks are boring? Fine, don't race them. Just keep in mind that oval tracks are the some of the closest racing you can possibly have.
If you don't want to get Forza3 or are here to bash Forza2, you might as well move along because I doubt most people here agree.
Keep in mind, everything above, came from a used-to-be Gran Turismo fanboy. Then I played Forza 2. Game over.
Nice!
I had and loved every Gran Turismo game until I completely got absorbed into Forza 2.
I never realized how fun a console psuedo-sim racing game could be.
Gran turismo was pretty, but after watching a few photo-like replays it felt like tetris-pokemon: "Beat time, collect car, beat time, don't mess up, collect car..." It was just dull.
Just got back from the Forza 3 VIP event in downtown LA.
it was hosted by Microsoft and Turn10 on the top of a parking structure, directly across from staples center.
they had like 12+ large lcd screens with each one playing the E3 release of Forza 3. In between each setup were some cars that you could actually drive in the demo! I brought my wife, and ran into other forum members there (Kal El, martyg), Billy Johnson, Howard @ Stoptech and Media (Willie, Carter, Jonathan, and Elliot from SORC)
The tent had a v10 R8, lambo, s4, STI, Evo X, R33, NSX, Fixed up Benz, Vette Z06, and i forget a few other cars on static display.
Open bar and wolfgang puck catering.. yum yum. food was great and the free booze was awesome.
at the entrance was a full motion simulator of Forza 3 on a three screen display and hydraulic pumps.. AND the new 900 degree porsche steering wheel!!! (unfortunatly the 6 speed shifter was a mock up, but the brake/gas/clutch pedals were there and the pedals felt pretty solid and not too 'light'. the steering wheel had a slight lag to it, so i had to constantly adjust my previous over correction, the force feedback on the wheel was decent, but the seat was the most jarring, so i bet if the seat wasnt rumbling as much, i could feel the steering wheel better. steering wheel is a good size and the buttons for the D pad and other buttons feel great.
the overall game play: MUCH better than Forza 2. Graphics are pretty good- scenery in far distances were photorealistic. the in cockpit dash cam is pretty good. i drove the 370z and it was like the real thing... alot of camera bob aka your head flopping around when you go over bumps, so if you get motion sick, hopefully you can turn it off.
the AI is pretty aggressive. i put it on Medium difficulty and bumped the car next to me on a turn and the next turn i got bumped out of the way.. and !!! CRASH DAMAGE!! you can actually flip the damn car! amazing. there is this 'redo' function that if you crash, you can rewind it and avoid the accident as if it never happened.. i dunno if this is just part of the demo or if it is actual game play. but kinda nice if you dont want to ruin your 'perfect lap'
as far as sounds, of what i could hear over the DJ, the 370z sounded realistic.
here are some of the picts i took of the event. sorry i shoulda taken more but i was too busy playin! hehe
(that's billy johnson on the simulator)
I'm in the process of uploading some video so i'll update more with video later..
overall impressions: this is seriously going to be awesome... i've been holding out for GT5 and getting a Logitech GT25 and PS3 solely for it.... but now that i see this.. and the new steering wheel... makes me think twice about it.
Car feel is distinctly different base on what car you're driving.. i tried out the 370z, the R8, the Bimmer SUV, and the Porsche.. each has its own particular essence.. in power and handling feel feels good.. graphics... there were some blips that i saw from the tree rending and anti aliasing, but since this was a demo i think it'll be hashed out.. frame rate is pretty fast, i didnt see much lag at all with 7 cars infront of me. although if you do hit straight on in the in cockpit mode, no shattered glass or anything just see the crumpled up nose...the scenery in one of the levels in which it is a country mountain side was magnificent.. rocks were beautifully rendered even blazing down the straightaway at like 100+mph. the cars rubbing you on the side, i thought i saw sparks but i could be wrong.. didn't see the distinct orange glow from the rotors under heavy braking, but i should have paid more attention.
anyways... BIG Thanks Landin @ Turn 10 for the opportunity to go to the event and checking out the game first hand! Seriously this is going to be dope.. i talked to some of the developers (?) and they will have drifting and drag racing.. i didnt see so much of the modding aspect like adding parts, but i'm sure it'll be there just as it was in F2....
ok.. ill post videos when they're uploaded...

Your opinion here no longer counts. Please take yourself to the GT5 thread and wait a few decades for it to come out.

I hate you.
Me and Forza just never clicked, eh. I have high hopes for F3 though, looks great. from what Cheston says it sounds like a much better GRiD (flips, better damage, rewind, etc). Can't complain about that.
