Default Favorite game series?

Now that that holiday airport crowd murder simulator game just came out (yes, it's that rare game that had a barely adequate print run according to a Cheetos eating GS employee), it may be a good time to ask about you all's most favorite game franchise/series.

For me, it's the Mario games. I have bought each and every one back to the Donkey Kong days and to date, there hasn't been one single bad Mario game. The Mario franchise is evidence of everything that's right with gaming, in that it has timeless gameplay, simple and spot on controls, wide appeal, great music and graphics, no need to resort to stupid and inane violence for its appeal (unless stomping on Goombas and turtles is considered violent), the list goes on and on. I very much look forward to buying and playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Metal Gear series without a doubt. I remember buying a PS2 just just to play Metal Gear Solid:Sons of Liberty.

Wow, best series I would have to go back to my childhood NES/SNES days, but Nintendo has failed as I've grown older.

Pre Playstation:
Sonic 1-3
Mario; M64 being 1 of my greatest games ever
Mariocart
Metroid
I know I'm forgetting so many

Post Playstation:
Gran Tourismo
GTA
Metal Gear
Final Fantasy
NFS (guilty pleasure)
To early for me to think of the rest, plus work is upon me!

How did I forget Zelda.

The series is on a decline, but the original, LTTP and OoT are amazing games.

Mass Effect
The first one has been out for a few years, and the sequel looks out of control awesome and is coming out just in time for my bday in January. If you have an Xbox and have not played this game, do it. It's like $15 at a gamestop.

Zelda
Metroid-the 2-D sidescrollers and new-gen 3-D ones (which I prefer actually)
The Elder Scrolls games

A series I have enjoyed every game from.....that would be COD. I would lump Final Fantasy in there as well but I started playing at number 8.

But I can say Starcraft and Diablo will be on the list though.
