Now that that holiday airport crowd murder simulator game just came out (yes, it's that rare game that had a barely adequate print run according to a Cheetos eating GS employee), it may be a good time to ask about you all's most favorite game franchise/series.
For me, it's the Mario games. I have bought each and every one back to the Donkey Kong days and to date, there hasn't been one single bad Mario game. The Mario franchise is evidence of everything that's right with gaming, in that it has timeless gameplay, simple and spot on controls, wide appeal, great music and graphics, no need to resort to stupid and inane violence for its appeal (unless stomping on Goombas and turtles is considered violent), the list goes on and on. I very much look forward to buying and playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

That was one of my favorite games as a kid and I've beat it over and over. I was so damn excited when I heard that they're making a new one a few years ago, I wanted to buy a game cube just so I can get that game. But as soon as I saw the trailer, I changed my mind
Mario series (none of the Mario spinoffs or Mario Kart junk)
Metroid
Final Fantasy
Street Fighter
Tekken
God of War
Ghosts and Goblins/Ghouls
Contra
Metal Slug
Mega Man
Ratchet and Clank
Castlevania
The game cube metroids are incredible and actually do *FEEL* like metroid. Try them.
Metroid.
ZElda- kinda losing its luster tho.
Final Fantasy
GTA
Every OTHER COD lol

Mass Effect
The first one has been out for a few years, and the sequel looks out of control awesome and is coming out just in time for my bday in January. If you have an Xbox and have not played this game, do it. It's like $15 at a gamestop.
Zelda
Metroid-the 2-D sidescrollers and new-gen 3-D ones (which I prefer actually)
The Elder Scrolls games
