If you are like me and many PS3 non-slim owners, you may have recently experienced the 8001050F error message while trying to sign into PSN. It's not just you, many PS3 owners across the internets are experiencing this problem.
According to the link above, the problem is that the PS3's internal clock/calendar is looking for February 29. They are working on a fix which will be out shortly.
On a side note, I'm glad this is a software issue and not a hardware issue and unlike that other console, this doesn't require sending the box back in a coffin to get "repaired" by a service center.

Too bad you can't repair this.

Man, I had some great games this weekend. Xbox is running great, Xbox Live ran smooth, as always, and all the suckers in my office who wanted to play MW2 on their PS3's had to find something else to do.
One of my PS3 friends even came over to get his fix on my Xbox. He prefers the controllers of the Xbox anyways.

Its better than being stuck with a dead xbox all the time. This has also only been down for 24 hours so quit the crap trying to troll threads for no reason other than trying to start something.

'Something' was already started by the OP if you look at his 'sidenote'.
I've only sent in my box once and have had it for years.

So you had to deal with sending yours in along with the hundreds of thousands or millions of others and wait for repair, and we just have to deal with our network being down for a day. Hmm I wonder which I would rather.

I played my PS3 with no problems. Played wipeout HD, and me and some buddies played some D1 GP.
I played mine yesterday and I didn't notice anything, but now I'm scared to log on and check. I already have a dead 360 dammit.
It's just the older models.

The newer 360s are a lot better than the old ones, at least they finally got the damn thing right.
Sony certainly is no angel and I swear if my blu-ray drive dies I'm making a video of me destroying my PS3

Yeah but for awhile you guys had no good games, your un-ergonomic controller will eternally suck and nobody has mic's to talk.
Yes, and those hundreds of millions of people who received their Xboxes still use them and if they screw up again, guess what, they ain't gonna get a PS3, lol.
The Xbox gaming experience is so damn good that people are willing to put up with it- myself included. I actually WANT my original 360 to go dead so I can buy the new Elite's with the new design that don't screw-up.
