with your weight lifting, i would start backing down the weight you are putting up and do some thing with 15-20 reps per set, and running 5-6 miles is only going to make you build stamina for running, when running 1st get on the treadmill and run at about 6 miles per hour pace then go all the way up to 12 or so and then back it down to 6, but each time you run for the speeds i suggested run for 1/4 mile. and as far as your gut and love handles that you claim you have, i would research a killer mid section workout and work with that for a little while, all of this stuff is what i do in the usmc m-f and weekends off, and im 190 pounds with about 9% body fat and run a 17 minute 3 mile run time

but good luck

Don't be fooled though. HIT is ****ing rough on you. You may feel like puking until you are conditioned to it.

So you may want to do like 30 second sprint, 90 second walk/jog intervals and then increase it to 30 sprint / 60 walk, etc.

i was just gonna say this. since nobody mentioned any times. once i work my way up, i end up doing 1min sprint, and 1.5min jog. and usually ill just do this for 30min on the eliptical. first 5 min is a warm up jog at around 8mph.
