hey guys,
i train Muay Thai and i run and lift...so i can stay strong but im having a hard time breaking my 200lbs mark...i lost 55lbs from Muay Thai and whatnot...but i really want to get down to 175lbs...so i decided to upped my cardio at the gym...i run 5-6 miles on the treadmill but i dont see any loss of weight...what should i do?...im 6'1'' and 200-205lbs...i ran my mile today and i went from a 9:45 to a 8:30 in 1 mile...im eating clean too....i also shocked my body without eating carbs for 2 weeks and nothing good happened....just getting irritated with my weight...i would love to loose my gut and love handles...what suggestions? and whats a good mile for a guy my size and build?...
thanks
with your weight lifting, i would start backing down the weight you are putting up and do some thing with 15-20 reps per set, and running 5-6 miles is only going to make you build stamina for running, when running 1st get on the treadmill and run at about 6 miles per hour pace then go all the way up to 12 or so and then back it down to 6, but each time you run for the speeds i suggested run for 1/4 mile. and as far as your gut and love handles that you claim you have, i would research a killer mid section workout and work with that for a little while, all of this stuff is what i do in the usmc m-f and weekends off, and im 190 pounds with about 9% body fat and run a 17 minute 3 mile run time
hmm....ive been dieting and eating clean...but im not seeing any weight loss or bodyfat loss...is it possible that i am at my all time low due to my genetics/height/build/ etc..??
hmm interesting...im gonna try that out tomorrow...i was gonna run for 7 miles tomorrow at 7mph on the treadmill but im gonna take your advice and go for it...
HIT High intensity traning. Dont do cardio at a steady pace. Your body gets use to it. Try jogging then sprinting then jogging then sprinting etc... Try it for 1 mile you will be dead by the end. It works great to shock the body and makes you tap into fat storages better.
+1

Don't be fooled though. HIT is ****ing rough on you. You may feel like puking until you are conditioned to it.
So you may want to do like 30 second sprint, 90 second walk/jog intervals and then increase it to 30 sprint / 60 walk, etc.
i was just gonna say this. since nobody mentioned any times. once i work my way up, i end up doing 1min sprint, and 1.5min jog. and usually ill just do this for 30min on the eliptical. first 5 min is a warm up jog at around 8mph.
