I've been working out for years but for some reason never worked on my legs. I started doing so a few weeks ago. I had maybe 3 or 4 leg days since I started.
Two days ago I had a particularly intense leg workout. I had some mild discomfort the day after, but the real pain was today. I couldn't walk straight all day lol.
My calves are in agony. I literally can't place my feet flat on the ground while standing. The only way I have been able to walk is to keep my feet like 2 feet apart and point my toes outward. Either that or do this weird tip-toe walk where I jerk my body around and try to keep balance as I clumsily stumble around like a handicapped person.
People thought I was retarded wherever I went haha. Is this normal for someone who is just starting to train their leg muscles, or did I overdo it?
Yes, you proabaly over-did it, but it is also normal. Think about it, you've probably worked your chest or arms as hard, but the difference is, you don't rely on your chest every time you want to take a step. Kudos for working your legs.
In 25+ years of working out, I've never been able to understand the whole upper body and no legs workout. It's stupid IMO. What most guys don't seem to understand is that when you work your legs, it increases your growth potential for everything else. I worked my way up to a max full squat of 405 with no wraps while weighing 165-170. Nothing will kick your butt like a huge leg workout. It will also bring about the most overall gains. Mark my word, after the huge amount of pain begins to leave you, you'll be so freakin' hungry, you'll be eating cardboard boxes from previously delivered car parts.
I'd suggest trying to do some quality stretching after your leg workouts to help reduce the pain.

Well I could barely walk today after training legs...... Sucks for me. I might have an MCL sprain or slight tear. Last week, while doing squats, felt some pain in my right knee. Was a little soar and tight for couple days, but did get better every day. I let it rest for about 1 week. ...... So today was leg day, knee felt good, so decided to go ahead and train legs. Trained my hamstrings first ( 5 sets leg curl, 3 sets of alt.leg curl). Did a few light sets of leg extensions, just to get some blood in my quads to prepare for press movements. Decided to start with leg press machine, did about 5 sets, knee felt alright, just a little tender, but no pain. Finally on squats, warmed up with 225x10, felt good. 2nd set 315x10, still no pain. 3rd set 405, on the 7th rep, on the way down, I felt that same freakin pain from last week. Fug!... I guess it wasn't quite fully healed yet. Well, No quad training for at least 2-3 weeks for me. However, I should be able to train my hammies. I'm stubborn when it comes to injury. I usually just take 2-3 ibuprofens and I'm good to go.
Tell me about it! I hit the legs hard yesterday after 2 weeks off & every time I got up from my chair at work or sit down, I grunt in pain. Co-workers were laughing at me. I can barely support myself when I try to get in a squatting position to sit. I pretty much just fall into my chair or couch.
