I usually use the gym at the place where I work. I work at a Best Western hotel and they let me use their exercise center. They have an old Hoist Fitness home gym that needs to be lubricated. I'm getting sick of it, and I'm getting sick of having to drive back and forth over there. I want something that I can work out on whenever I want, usually at night before I go to bed.
My friend has a Life Fitness G2 home gym. It's really nice! I got to try it out and it was super smooth and I loved the lat pull down. It also had a chart that showed how to do every exercise. The only thing I didn't like was the $1,499 price tag! http://us.home.lifefitness.com/content.cfm/g2
If you are looking into getting a home gym, go to powertecfitness.com and ironmaster.com to get some ideas. Powertec has a nice line of leverage homegyms that are very good quality pieces. I also really like the ironmaster adj dbs. Powertec also sells powerracks so if you want a real free weight gym, you can just get a powerrack and an FID bench (adj bench), oly bar and some plates plus the db's and call it a day. If you're more comfortable with a machine, then maybe just stick with a leverage home gym. The basic leverage home gym is around $850, the adj db's from ironmaster are around $490 plus you'd have to buy plates for the lev gym. You can get weight pretty cheap from used sporting goods stores etc and remember, you can always add pieces as you need them/get more $$ to spend.
Warning: if you go the home gym route (which I highly recommend), it can become kinda like an addiction like modding your car--ie. you'll keep coming up with reasons to keep getting more stuff.
Also, plan ahead, make sure you measure your floor space very carefully and be sure you'll have plenty of room for whatever you wind up getting.
I was looking more for one machine that I can do everything on. Like bench, lat pull down, bicep curls, tricep workouts, and upper back workouts. Not really focusing on my legs, but I run 2 miles every other day.
