mess up your work out? I was having a debate with my friend and he was stating that one weekend of drinking will mess up 3 weeks worth of hitting the gym.
I don't think it is as bad as that (3 weeks?), and how can you put a number to it anyway? 3 weeks in the gym for one guy is equivalent to one workout for another guy who works out more intensely. But it's probably a little bit bad for your workout.. it dehydrates you, etc. After all, it is a toxin.
I say one day of heavy drinking will take one day of working out to get the toxins out of your system. I usually always hit the gym on sunday after i drank on saturday and it sucks but you sweat it all out it seems. I just did that this weekend actually.
sorry i should have been more specific, but hence not intaking enough protein for that day, and drinkning pretty heavy. How much do you think it would mess you up?
I was at 164 sunday at this pool party, and now I am 160=(
I have been intaking high amounts of protien since than, maybe its just the water I lost...
Loaded question, completely impossible to predict.
Too many factors: type of alcohol/proof, volume of ingestion, up/down regulation of alcohol/aldehyde dehydrogenase, comorbid factors, baseline basal metabolic rate, state of hydration, and maybe another 30 to 50 factors.
Anyone who's willing to give you an exact number for "number of days/weeks for recovery" is full of doo-doo.
Alcohol not only dehydrates/is an intake of surplus calories, it also inhibits recovery/protein synthesis from a serious workout.
There's not a fixed # you can put on it, but being in college and trying to avoid alcohol on the weekends can be tough.
As said, its mostly water weight you lost. Your body/kidneys have to use up a lot of water to help filter the alcohol out of your system. Dehydration is bad for muscles, plus this:

Also, numerous tests have shown that alcohol inhibits test production... so its pretty rough all around.
If I've worked out already I'll have one drink max but other than that... if I do drink alot, it's normally 2 days before my next workout. I think I lost a lot of water from drinking at Zdayz lulz

play that one off....i actually have done that before(n.o and alcohol)
whats your guys opinion on getting a nice "pump" before going out? push ups in the bathroom(incline off the wall of course)???
I always do pushups situps before I have a few drinks....I guess its just more of a mental thing. I think if you drink on saturdays do some cardio on sundays and sweat it back out then hit the gym hard the next week its not that big of a deal.
