Default Veilside V1 lip problems...

This is a real pain to install! The Carbonn Fiber Version is a real *****...took forever to get it on (had to file off edges), I still dont have the screws lined up to the metal bracket..any suggestions? I may drill a new hole with some new hardware to get it more securly fit.

i had the same problem. kept messing with it for a few hours and finally got the bolts to thread. problem is the lip holes dont line up exactly, and when you apply pressure to get it to line up, the plastic piece you are threading into pushes up and back preventing the bolt from threading straight in. i used a flash light and a mirror and eventually got it right. helps if you can see the holes. ideally the car should be on jack stands to do this right. it was a pain in the *** for sure though. good luck.

^ yep, I had the car up....total bs how we have to file/shave off part of the edges....then the part you cut off has a cloudyish look...totally ghetto..but the lip looks great though!

The bolt holes on my old carbon fiber lip never lined up either. I used duct tape, and cotter pins to keep in on. I also heard someone using zip ties to run through the holes.

^ Your old lip? What happened to it? Did you get rid of it? I also think that Cable Ties may be an option if I can't get the bolts on.... I think one problem is the size of the bolts, with the added surface of the lip, the bolt may be too short. I'm emailing veilside and complaining about this experience.

Do not use any type of ties or anything on it. If it is not installed properly, you will void your warantee from Veilside. Have you tried calling them directly and asking them about the problem to see what they say? Or perhaps calling the vendor you purchased it from to get any guidance or assistance?

^ veilside is aware of the problem and has also supplied additonal instrctions to "file off a portion of the edges to make the CF lip to fit. They give an illustration of how it should look like... but they do not give any specs on how much to file off. It's somewhat frustrating because they show two pictures, "how it should look like" and "how it shouldn't look like" The comparrison pics are not even aligned next to each other, so it's hard to tell how much they want you to take off. As far as the bolts go, they just do NOT align perfectly, that's the main problem here. These problems seem to be pretty consistant with those with the CF lip.... not much room for error because of decreased flexibility compared to the other available materials.

Hmmmm.......

Mine fit really nicely. I have to dremel a little bit of the inside edge to fit flush but that's about it.

I guess I am lucky. Good lucK.

arvin is the only one I have heard that has had the bolt holes line up underneath with the CF lip. Everyone else has had to modify or rig it in some way. Once it was on there though, I had no problems with it coming off or getting loose (untill I bashed it into a truck)

I say just get it on there the best way you can.

it's not a vendor problem. its a veilside quality problem. the vendors are simply selling what people are requesting and everyone seems to want this lip despite the installation headaches associated with it.

What you just posted made no sense ZRacing but here is how it works:

You bought a product that has a manufacturer defect or doesn't fit or doesn't work how it was intended to work. This is a manufacturer's issue.

First and foremost, you better hope you bought it from an authorized dealer. Just because they sell it, doens't mean they are authorized.

I am one of the top 3 Veilside dealers in the country and deal with and consult with Veilside on a daily basis. They are very good about handling quality issues and taking care of problems such as this one. They take great pride in the quality of their products and their fitment. If there is an issue, they will work with you to fix it.

Just as an example, say you went to Circuit City and bought a Samsung TV. If the TV messed up in 3 months, would you call Circuit City? Heck no you wouldn't. You would be on the phone with Samsung.

well i for one am happy it is being sold by vendors despite the problems. they really arent major problems...more annoying than anything...but it looks great once it's installed and there's no alternative that looks as good to me, except maybe the INGS +1 half kit lip.

now if 3 other manufacturers had similar looking lips for sale then quality would become much more of an issue...but this is the only game in town IMO.
