The leo's cried to the legislators that they weren't able look into the cars and see what everyone was doing.
If I remember right, several years ago (around 25-30 years) a state leo got shot in Illinois when he walked up to a car on a routine stop. When he got up to the tinted drivers window, the person inside was pointing a shotgun at him, which he couldn't see. And boom. Tint was now illegal. This is why Il. doesn't allow any drv or pas side tint.
It wasn't until about 10 years ago that the law was changed and states allowed a certain present of tint.
What I don't get is the states with a large amount of days in sunlight wont allow darker tint to help keep the car cooler, and to protect the inside from sun damage. That just seems asinine.
Once again, everyone has to suffer for one persons random act of violence.

got a trick and you can put them as dark as you want and cops cant say sh#$%,
go to the dermatologist, say that your skin is to sensitive to the sun and you need to tint the windows. Go to DMV have them stamp it and thats it.

State of Virginia has lowered the percent for the front windows. It is legal now to have the front windows tinted at 35% instead of 50%. This is in effect now.

That is so awesome!!!! My windows are all tinted 35% all around, I wish I had went 20%. Now that my 35% is legal, I will have to have it pulled off and 20% put on. Thanks for sharing!!
