Default Illuminated Side Markers (CCFL)

I was thinking about doing the LED mod on my side markers, but did this instead.

What do you guys think? My camera sucks at nighttime pics, but you get the idea. They're lit up by a CCFL from behind so the lighting is nice and uniform. I didn't like seeing individual dots like LEDs. No modification to the side marker at all so it's completely reversible and you don't risk getting water/condensation in them.

I wanted to do white, but white side markers for 06+ are still expensive and I had a box full of CCFLs. For sale if anyone's interested?

How much you sell it for? Can you post like a DIY/installation guide?

How about $20 shipped per kit and $15 for each additional kit? Kit will include two inverters and FOUR red 12" CCFLs. Each inverter will power two CCFLs so you can light other places near the side marker or just use the extra two as spares. You need two inverters because the CCFL wires won't stretch very far and you can't extend them.

I can do a write-up if enough people are interested, but basically you just mount the CCFL (I used Gorilla tape) behind the side marker and hook up to parking light power.

How did you put the CCFL from behind when it is gray plastic that won't allow light to transfer?

Not sure about 03-05, but the 06+ side markers have part of the orange lens showing on the back side. Stick the CCFLs there and you're good to go.

Whoah...that's beautiful. Totally got me to scrap the overly expensive LED idea. This looks MUCH better, and costs MUCH less. Where did you buy the CCFLs from?

I used to run an online website that sold lighting stuff. Just left over inventory.

Maybe use a router and make a slot in the gray plastic to let the light through. Just seal up with clear tape. I can't seem to find any good pics of the back side to come up with any other solutions.

Do you have any white CCFLs? I'd like to do this with clears.
