Default 06+ Cup holder lights on a 03-05

Hey guys, I've searched but couldn't find anyone who's attempted this.

* This goes for the center console cup holder lights too

Now, I have an 05 and swapped to the 06+ door panels. When I bought the panels, the seller also included the 06+ harness (thanks litoflow )

So why not change the whole harness while i'm at it?... Thinking the cup holder lights would work... but no, they didn't.

So has anyone attempted to to make them work? The way they should on an 06-08? I was thinking of splicing wires and seeing if i could tap into some power from another cable but before any splicing happens, i'm wondering if any of you guys can chime in? and get these to work.

So the door panel harness was a direct swap? All connectors fit? If this is the case I would think that the harness in the door jamb is just missing a wire - tap into your interior lights under the dash and add that to the connector on the proper pin and the light should work.

Did you happen to trace out the wire for the light and see where it is located in the pin-out of the connector? I bet there is no corresponding pin/wire on the 05 harness or the harness in the door jamb.

I didn't even know my '08 had those cupholder lights until a few years ago when I saw a thread like this on some other forum. Now that I know they're there, I can still barely see them so don't get too psychotic over it if they don't work. I did install some nice orange LED footwell lighting though, switched on/of with the dome lights or manually, and those are actually quite useful.

Yep, the harness was a direct swap with the addition of the cup holder light wire. All connectors fit perfectly.

I took a peek of the harness connector, and you're absolutely correct, the 06+ harness accepts TWO new pins (I'm assuming for the light) BUT what i'm unsure of now, is if the door jamb harness actually has these two new pins available. I'm guessing it doesn't

Those look really good man! Most new cars i've been in have cup holder/floor lights now. Looks nice and it's helpful during the night.

Maybe pull the power from the light circuit for the window switches? That should be easy to isolate.

Good idea. I'll try that and post pics

dcains since you have an 08, are the cup holder lights always on? (like the windows switches are) or when you turn on your headlights?

The cupholder lights (both on the doors and console) in my '08 switch on/off with the parking lights, but the window/lock lights are on whenever the key is in the ignition.

I'm also going to swap door panels from '06 to '03. Did you ever find out where to tap into for power?

I am swapping my 05 door panels for some 08 Nismo z door panels. I tapped into the switch lights and my drivers side cupholder light works. The passenger side does not work which means the bulb is burned out. The dealer cant figure out a part number for it so they are calling nissan to find out.
