Default 2003 350Z Key

So, I bought a used 350z Track model. Private sale. The owner gave me the valet key and 2 Uncut/Unchipped keys. The manual says I need some sort of plaque or number to get the original/non valet key made, but I didn't get that. I'm tired of having the valet key as my only option, and I don't want 2 duplicates of a valet key. Any help on how to obtain the original keycut?

I believe you are saying you have two uncut-unchpped keys. I doubt those keys will work with the NATS system in the Z. You are going to have to get keys with the proper chips and have them programmed to your car. I suspect you will have to visit the dealer to get that done and be prepared with a wheel barrow full of money when you go there.

if the key you have has a chip in it(say, it OEM nissan blank key), you can probably just get a local locksmith to cut and program the key for you.

There will be someone local to you that will do it a lot cheaper. Maybe check a mechanic or an Audio shop. Dealer is not the only person that can do it.

I have the exact same problem here, only got the valet key with my car, no plaque/number. Looking to get the master key but don't know how. I can buy the blank transponder key chip 46 online and got them cut at a local locksmith but that will be just a copy of the valet key, and will still don't have a master key.

Any ideas please...

Just a valet key? Does that key have a chip?

I'm assuming it has a chip since valet keys are given to valets to park the car.

Maybe the valet key doesn't unlock/lock the "glove box" behind the passenger seat? lol

Anyway, you can do one or both of the following:
- Go to Nissan dealership in Panama and pay them for a key
- Order the blank transponder key online and have either Nissan or a local locksmith to cut and program it for you. Better yet, if you have eBay, look up the seller Artiway for a 350z flip key with remote/transponder key

I ordered from Artiway a few months ago and it has plenty of positive review from people on this forum who've had one for a few years.

Valet keys have a chip, but the only difference is that it can't lock/unlock the glove box and it's a maroon color. I only got the valet key with mine and it doesn't really bother me.

I just went through the exact same thing. I have no idea how both master keys could get lost and nobody bother to replace them. Anyway, I bought 2 chipped key blanks off ebay for $21 shipped. The dealer wanted $100 per blank!!!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/130833504526...84.m1497.l2649

I took them to the local dealer and they cut and programmed them for me off the VIN. They charged me $50 which I thought was pretty high but I don't know what else you can do other than getting reproductions of the valet key made. I haven't had any problems with the keys.

DCJodon, it’s quite easy to convert your Valet Key into a full service key. If you look at somebody else’s main and valet keys, you will see that the valet key has an extra little bump that keeps it from opening the glove box lock. If you file down this bump, it will convert it into a full service key.

Also,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-ALLin1-FLIP-TRANSPONDER-CHIP-KEY-KEYLESS-ENTRY-FOB-REMOTE-TRANSMITTER-4B2-/121120323736?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A350Z&hash=item1c33557898
This says it only works with 2004+ models. So 2 things, what would prevent it from working with the 350z? If there isn't anything preventing that, would I be ok to go ahead and buy that?

yea that's the same thing I have from Artiway. It can be cut and the chip programmed by any local locksmith. The remote itself, you can program yourself, look for the programming instructions here in the DIY section, it takes a few seconds to do.

The key has an RFID chip embedded in the plastic head. There is a coil inside the steering column that reads the chip in the key. The Z's ECM can remember up to five different key IDs. The dealership has to program a new key ID into your car using the Consult system. A locksmith cannot do that unless they have a Nissan Consult box.
