Is yours halogen or HID?

If you have HID it is a direct swap. If not you have the wrong plug on the car to plug into the 06+.

When you turn them on does it kinda flash, then fade in to being bright or just turn on?

Is the light output kinda blue or kinda yellow?

When you turn them off when up close to a wall do they fade away or do they instantly go out?

Default Depot Headlight Help

All those who have purchased and installed Depot Headlights please help. I am in need of purchasing new headlights for my 03 very badly. They are horribly sunbaked to the point were it is hard to see at night. OEM are literally over 1k as you all already know. I have a touring so HID is stock.

I am a little confused as to what all is involved with the Depot Headlights. I have read that the headlights are essentially a shell and that the innards of my stock headlights must be used in the Depot? I have also read that you can purchase them with everything you need intact?

Any advise as too what procedures or equipment will be involved in purchasing and installing these headlights would be greatly appreciated as it will likely save a ton of time/money.

Thanks guys.

The depo is just a shell. Youll need to change the bulbs, the ballast and the ignitor from your old housing to the new one.

I just finished my conversion.

So after a year and 4 months, i FINALLY decided to do this. I originally hated hid for the fact that i always felt it belongs on euros. But time changed and so have i. And i have to say, i love them. Super bright and my car is low enough to not have it bother others on the road. Win win.

Has anyone replaced the 4x LED nodes on the top of these headlights? My driver side ones all went out. I'm not against disabling the passenger side to stay symmetrical too, but I don't know how. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

If you want to disable the corner led, the wore is inside the housing, you can just unhook/unclips the wires. Make sure its the right wire you will disable the highbeams.

You can disable the 4 LEDs without having to bake the headlights open: you just have to disconnect a two-pin harness within the headlight which feeds power to the arrays - and you can find it pretty easily, as it is the only 2wire which goes to the top of the headlight WITHIN THE HOUSING of the headlight (the other wires are located OUTSIDE of the housing, and feed the parking/turn signal bulb.

That said: check the harness of the 2PIN LEDs: if all 4 went out, it's probably a wiring problem (loose harness, or perhaps your leads were leaning against the HID, and melted/burnt?).

I replaced my 4 amber LEDs on each side with 5K white LEDs, and am using them as running lights (and they're wired to turn off when the turn signal is activated). If you want to do that, you'll have to source the right LEDs from mouser.com or oznium.com (where I got mine). Desoldering the OEM LED and soldering in new LEDs is easy - just make sure you get the polarity correct (which is oriented on the LED by a flat 'notch' on each LED).

Good luck -

Alright so I'll be upgrading to the 06 depo headlights soon. Currently have the 04 halogen headlights with aftermarket hids. According to what I've read... and please correct me if I'm wrong or missed something out, what I'll be getting to make this work... 2 D2S bulbs, and 2 55w ballast. Now I read somewhere were someone said that TRS ballast are 6pin and will connect with my harness, is this true ?

Or am I just better off getting the D2S morimoto elite hid system ?

the Matsushita Gen V ballasts are a direct replacement for the stock Matsushita Gen III ballasts that come on the 06-08's as confirmed by TRS.

Other than that you'll just have to figure out what you want to do about the 6pin/8pin connector situation.

Do the sti lens swaps make the HIDs "brighter" or make the cut off better?

I swapped to 06 lights from 03's and the output is amazing, I cant see it getting better lol. 03-05 lights should be illegal IMHO.

Here's one to consider about the STi lens swap vs the fresnel lens: I think it creates hotspots in the gloss black plastic curve below the lens.

As a result, that part is somewhat melting on my DEPOs. I think one of the benefits of the fresnel lens is that it diffracts off angle sunlight so that it does not create a 'magnifying glass effect on this lower part.

I've seen a solution to this done by someone: they laminated that area with a reflective material.

If I had to do it over again, I would not have upgraded to the STi lens because of this problem.

Default Just received Depot 350Z housing..

I am trying to cover my bases on this upgrade. I just received the Depo headlight Housing. I am also waiting on turn signal LED's, 3157 and resistors (To avoid rapid blinking) as well as T10 wedge LED (white) for the running lights and fresh headlight o-rings. Have I missed anything? This is on a 2006 Touring so I am swapping out my D2S bulbs. Have I missed anything?. I also ordered quick disconnect two pin wires for a more professional installation. This is new territory for me, I have also ordered switchback front running lights/turn signals

and rear turn signal/backup LED's as well. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hey guys bought these recently but the aim seems off and too low. The problem is I don't see any adjustment option. I transferred over the OEM HID and the light output is awful I feel it's pointing down. Should I go with the H7 HID morimoto elite? I see some picked these and other just went with Phillips bulbs and were happy.

So I've been seeing everyone talking about morimoto lights with this setup. Is this the one people are talking about? I'm think 50w or should I go with 35w?

No.

The stock MATSUSHITA ballasts are better than any aftermarket stuff you find. Also the ballasts are integrated into the headlight so if for some strange reason you swapped to something else, you'd have a giant hole in the bottoms of your headlights.

Aim your lights properly and they'll be fine. There's both a vertical and horizontal adjustment **** on the back.
