Default Painting Emblems same color as wheels.

So I picked up some used Touring v2 wheels from craigslist and they are painted quite badly. I am looking to paint them a slightly lighter silver gunmetal grey. However I am also interested in painting all the emblems on my Z the same color.

Does anyone have any experience using the same paint on wheels and the emblems?

Would I just need to use a special primer on the emblems to make the paint stick to them?

Any recommendations?

I would upload pictures right now but for some reason it won't let me.

Scuff them up a little, self-etching primer and spray. Take them off first obviously

And the paint should stick to the plastic emblems after the self-etching primer I presume?

Basically, self-etching primer will fill small imperfections like little gouges or scratches and is still primer. Regular primer can do this but not as well.

And yes, don't forget some clear coat.

Thanks for the help all, I will be trying it out this weekend or next. I will upload some pictures of the car after I finish it up.

Most etch primers are acid based and made for bare metal,
not plastics.
For bare plastics, a adhesion promoter should be used first
then a good urethane or epoxy primer.
If it's not bare plastic, skip the adhesion promoter.
Epoxy gives much better adhesion for the paint.
Urethane primers (usually referred to as "2K")
are better at filling for small imperfections.
Don't use etch on plastics.
If unsure check the tech sheet for that product.

That may be but I only buy etching primer and I've never had an issue with smaller car parts (like the engine cover). Never have I used an adhesion promoter either. When I paint my whole car I will, but these small jobs I never have found it necessary unless it's a high traffic item like door handles.
