Unhappy Unwanted Paint on Door Handles

Hello everyone,

I recently bought an 06 350z and I'm loving it. However, the previous owner put on some matte black paint on both door handles. It looks tacky IMO and the finish is pretty crappy too. How should I remove the paint back to the stock silver color?

Thanks!

acetone should get the paint off

what i would do is paint another coat or 2 to get the old paint "wet" then rub it with actone.

are you sure its paint and not plastidip?

I was going to say the same thing, it's probably plasti-dip, it'll peel off.
I hate seeing vehicles with that crap on them.

I agree its most likely Plasti dip, I did mine to see how it will look when/if I decided to paint it I think the color scheme looks good but plastidip quality is crap

just buy new ones.....unless its plastidip...you will not simply be able to remove the paint and have them look good. IF it was done right, he would have roughed up the surface before painting.

Try Goo Gone pro power from home depot. it's cheap, and works wonders!! It's strong stuff, but is safe on virtually any surface. Should work nicely on any old paint and is excellent with plasti-dip removal

I think you have 3 options

1) Buy new OEM door handles

2) Have a body shop color match them to your car

3) If it's just plastidip, peel it off

Just use a hair dryer. If it is plastidip, it will become soft and easier to remove.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but you could just peel it off if it's plasti-dip.
