washing them is also important.... no dyes or perfumes, and no fab softners. i use the chemical guys MF wash, with a tad of dreft baby detergent or tide free and clear

If you wax a coating it takes away from the hydrophobic and antistatic properties o the coating... Also waxes/sealants were designed to bond to paint not a glass coating so the wax or sealant wont last as long, basically waste your time. Now you can top a coating with a product like carpro reload or 22ple final coat those were designed to be a sacrificial barrier for the coating. My 22ple coating has been on over 2 years no sign of degradation of the coating. As a matter of fact I chatted with the owner of this company and he has had it on one of his cars for 5 years and still going strong.

3 bucket... The 3rd is for wheels.

I store my MF in labeled dedicated sealed plastic containers... 1 for polishing/compounding... 1/for wheels... 1 for drying..etc.

Ah i learned alot. I will need to research more. As for the 3 wheels method, i wash my wheels last and just uses the 2 bucket methods, is that mine or should i stary doing the 3 buckets? As far as the containers, is it air tight or just basically the plastic tubs at walmart?

Yea trav, my car is in the garage 90% of the time, until i takenit out and park it in the sun. Az gets dusty so swirls are a gurantee thing lol.

If you do wheels last you are prob ok as long as you wash the bucket to remove the metal dust particles from the heel cleaning.

Mine are not airtite... I did buy them at Walmart.. I have the kind that the lid locks on with the clips from the container so no accidental drop and they hit the ground.

To add to Travis wash the towels separate by category... Don't wash wheel/general purpose towels with paint mfs.

Thanks for the suggestions! I wash the buckets out after and before each wash, since the bucket gets dusty if they sit for more than 5 min haha.

As far as washing the MF, i dont use any detergent as the instructions says, am i washing it right?

Well, at least we got a lively discussion out of this. Perhaps user error on my part, but my experience, and absolute lack of swirl marks on 4 of my cars, tells me not to wipe a car with a dry towel after washing/rinsing. As for the soapy water I like, I learned years ago to add a few tablespoons of vegetable oil the soapy warm water, taught by one of the owners of Zymol. Basically it's a 3-bucket wash, one for the car soap, one for the wheel/tire/exhaust/rocker panel soap, and one clear water to rinse the sponge. I dry the car with a blower, or a quick drive around the block. I do have a syringe of opti-coat, but I haven't tried it yet. My old 6-series BMW is metallic black, so I'll probably try it on that car first.

Sounds like the issue is the lack of wiping after the rinse. There might be some wax in the product that needs a little bit of a final buff.

Nearly full bottle still up for grabs. Pay the USPS and it's yours. First come first served.

I'll take it if it's the gallon size.
