03 Cubbyhole door installation into 08

The 03 console with cubby won't work in anything higher than 05.
The 03 console won't interface with the lower portion of the 08 center console (called the "shifter surround"). Then you'd also have to change out the side panels of the center console area...the ones that hold the knee rest...then you'd have to change out your AC control unit, and then the dials themselves also. Big bucks for accomplishing simply a cubby door.
You'll have to fab something up or accept what you've got unfortunately.

The 03 to 05 retractable door cubby will fit into a 2008 model, but you you'll have to replace the whole cubby. I just upgraded my 05 center console to an 07 but wanted to keep my power door cubby that I customized. Don't tighten the 2 lower fasteners all the way when you change the cubby (the 2006+ cubby bracket has a slightly different offset - you'll see when you install it).

Am I missing something? More than happy to be wrong, but I've seen it over and over in forums in this country and others all say that you have to replace about six pieces to convert 05 to 07, and if you do one piece yo have to do them all...which from my own looking at console pieces is true.
Curious to learn more from your scenario?, or am I misinterpreting your post?

Sorry for not getting back to you earilier. I hadn't been on the forums fora while. Savedbygrace is right. I did do an entire swap of the center console, waterfall and hvac controls but kept the cubby from my 2005. This is because I wired up a custom control board to be able to use a powered cubby without the nav. 2005 and older cubbys have lower mounts that step away from the back of 2006+ waterfalls about 1/2". They will still line up if you put a spacer or just don't tighten them up all the way (you still tighten the top 2 scews). It's winter in Canada so my car is covered otherwise I would take a picture of it for you. Hope this helps.

I took a couple pictures of my extra cubbys, so that you can see the difference.
2007 Cubby (Left) vs 2005 Cubby (Right)
You will notice that the hole position is lower on the 2005
Here is a picture of the 4 screws holding the Cubby in place.

Swede, I managed to take a picture of my 2005 Cubby in the 2007 waterfall. Their is a bit of a gap on the top due to the slight difference in curvature. I won't be as noticeable if you put the black foam piece in place. I forgot to do that.
