Im gonna try to make this short and simple. The rear panel has a rust spot thats really bad and everybody knows you cant repair it, so instead of going with an oem replacement, i'll try to place it with a CF one ( no more rust ). Does anyone know where i can get one ??? And anyone know any body shop that does it in NJ ? Im from South Jersey and ive called a bunch of body shops, not a single one is willing to work with carbon fiber....

The rear quarters are stressed, structural members of the chassis. They're steel for a reason.

Also, all steel panels on the Z have been zinc dipped before paint, so if your QP is rusting, there's some body damage there. There's no way to permanently bond carbon fiber to steel, so give up that dream...

Sigh...really dont wanna sell the car but i guess im gonna have to...replacing the rear quarter panel isnt cheap , id called around and most shop quoted me at least $3000 for everything. That money could be put toward a TT kit.. this sucks *** ! Thanks a lot guys

Oh yea lesson learned but its hard to keep the car rust free tbh unless you own 2 cars here in NJ . The winter here is brutal with all the snow and salt all over the road

You can not replace the metal qp with cf one, but what you can do is to mask your problem areas with some wide body kit, or some cf rear qp - seibon carbon or crown carbon has them

That's what I always did when I lived in the northeast. Bought a winter beater in October, sold it in April.

Can't let this kind of sketchy advice go unchallenged. If there's already some rust on the QP, masking the problem with an overlay is a terrible idea. The body kit will trap even more dirt and moisture, and the rust will continue to eat through the structure of the Z. It's better to FIX the QP properly and ensure the car is sound structurally.

Serious not, if it's just the fender lip, cutting the section out, welding , proper undercoating and the CF overlay is not that bad of an idea

Honestly if i could cut the spot out and patch it up , i would have done it already since its only $500.. a small price to pay to keep the car. But rust is like cancer , it will come back sooner or later and if im not lucky , it could come back in a matter of few weeks. Replacing the QP is out of the question , ive called around and its easily $3000 . Like Dcain said lesson learned , going to try to sell the car in the spring and find me a Panda Z this time

It is the fender lip but its rotted through so who knows how bad it could be underneath , i cant take any chances sadly
