Daytime Running Lights
The search function seems to be down again, so I'm hoping one of you can answer my question... I may be importing my Z into Canada soon (from U.S.) and they require DRL's. Does anyone know what the procedure is to add DRL's to U.S. spec Z's? I'm hoping/assuming I won't need new headlight assemblies. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I have HID's.

I called a Nissan dealer in Canada as I wanted to have DRLs here. They researched putting same in a US car and told me that it is very labor intensive and would cost me 6-7 hundred dollars. I thought it wud just be like adding a relay but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have been told by others to look into an aftermarket that doesn't require going in to wiring harness but haven't as of yet. Good luck

There is a module from Hamsar (http://www.hamsar.com/drl.htm) that will work I'm pretty sure for about 35 bucks. It may take a phone call to them to see if they have a kit specifically for the Z. For the G coupe, I faxed in the wiring drawings and their engineer came up with a solution. I haven't gone that direction though partly because after poring through my Infiniti's manual, I found the OE DRL module runs the high beams lamps in series. It's easy enough with a few relays to do this myself. Crashing and totalling my 1st G three months ago put a damper on progress. Have the replacement car now but haven't gotten a fire under me to get this project done yet.
