Have any of you purchased a replacement convertable top for your roadster? I have heard that you should stick with OEM, but local Nissan dealers want as nuch as $2100 for the replacement top..Uninstalled! Is there a reliable online source that sells OEM replacement tops at a good price? What about any other necessary hardware needed when replacing the top (i.e. fasteners, clips, etc.)?

I haven't had any troubles with the top until yesterday. It was around 80 degrees here and hadn't had the top down for a few months. The windows went down, seat went forward. Then I could heard the motors and a click, but it didn't sound like the latch would release. Is there a motor that tells the latch to release? The latch ended up releasing and the top would go up and down fine no problems. I greased up all of the gears and the spring where the rear latch is. The latch seemed pretty dry and not very giving, but after everything was greased up it was very giving and I haven't had any issues.

It doesn't seem like a motor problem. Anyone else having this issue regarding the rear latch?

Thanks for your input!

Im looking at a 05 ZR im thinking about getting, When i put the top down it appears to do so fine when at the final stage where the back lid covers over the top i dont think its fully shutting all the way. It appears to be latched closed (I think) but the light on the dash sayin the top is still open stays on. Should i be concerned about this? because i know nissan absolutely does not cover anything for the ZR tops so im told?.. Thanks in advanced

Just took delivery of an 06 yesterday. They brought it from out of state. It was of course frezzing cold and pouring rain (northern MI). I checked out the car as best I could, but rain stopped briefly today and I find the power top does NOT work. It stops short of collapsing all the way in. What should I look for? The dealership has been difficult at best on this buy, and I expect them to ignore me.

This is sort of a follow up to an earlier question. I mentioned that the traction control light on my wife's 350Z would kick on at weird times. Like when hitting bumps on dry pavement.

This seemed to happen after taking the car in for service. The transmission was slipping at 90K miles thanks to the PO not ever having the transmission fluid changed. Among other problems like stalling and an oil pressure guage pegged out.

The other day I changed the oil and rotated the tires.

I noticed the tires were starting to wear so I went to Tire rack just to see how much a set of tires would run. To my surprise this car has 225s on the front and 235s on the rear. I thought only redneck's ran miss sized tires. Fats one on the rear and skinner ones on the fronts.

Well come to find out, I told the guy to rotate the tires. Not knowing this car ran fatter tires on the rears. So for awhile the 235s were on the front and 225s were on the rear. So would that screw things up? As far as the traction control is concerned?

Also all four tires had 30# of air pressure in them. I dug out the owner's manual and looked for a door sticker looking for Nissan's recommended air pressure but to no avail. So I looked on the internet and got mixed opinions. It seems the consensus is 33 PSI in all four tires. Is that correct?

Since most of these performance tires are directional, that means running different size tires they cannot be rotated. And even if you could find a non directional tire you still can't rotate them from side to size without a lift or two people using two floor jacks at the same time.

I can't find a proper lifting point on this car to raise the front end off the ground with a single floor jack. On the other hand if I bought these from Sears they could rotate them for me free of charge and change the oil while they are at it. I'm not a fan of doing an oil change on this car.

So is it were possible to use 225s on all four wheels? Would this mess with the traction control?

Here's the problem:

I have a 2007 Roadster. The bar that goes across the middle of the underside of the top has a small plate on each side with two screws in each plate; one is just about directly over the drivers head, and the other would be above a passenger's head. They are small, and the screw heads are each about the size of a pea. Well, whne the top closes, these screws rub on the inside of the top, and have slowly worn a hole into the top, on both sides.

I take my car to the dealership, and they say it looks like that is the problem, but you need to call headquarters to get it approved because the cost is over our limit to approve it ourselves. I call HQ, tell them the deal, then they call me back and tell me "The cause is from outside factors. We cannot replace the top." If it is happening on both sides, in the identical place, seems like its the screws.

Any suggestions? I am pretty mad right now.
