I'm a little worried that there won't be many deals this year from what people around the office are saying. I'm specifically looking into the Rebel EOS Xsi witht he stock lens just to play around with while learning. The lightly used kits are going for around $500-$550 and on cheapstingybargains and prophotosupply they're going for around $600 new..

PS: I'm also on the Canon forum (photography-on-the-net) and I'm looking for deals on there but it's about the same. I'm looking for a camcorder - solely for the use of mounting it on my harness bar and recording at the track (autoX and Drifting).

Requirements:

1. Must have a remote control:



yes, i want a remote controlled camcorder, cause i don't wanna be reaching back to try and turn the hoe bag on.......

I just wanna click the remote control and look in my rear view and see the light turn from green to red - signifying that its recording...


2. I want it to use SD card for media storage - sd cards are easy to fug with, and i don't wanna be busting out wires to download/upload or transfer my video clips.

My lap tops, etc all have built in SD card readers.

I dont plan on recording anything longer than 20 minutes, heck autoX runs are 90 sec if at a good course...

3. I want the camcorder to be of this typical build style:


So that i can flip the screen fwd (like shown in this pic above) and i can look in the rear view mirror and check that the camera is pointed where i need it to be and hasn't "slipped or moved out of position"..

4. Price about $250 plus or minus...

anyone have any models they can recommend........

I have found it quite difficult to search online for a good unit, most reviews etc, don't mention (even in the specs sheet) if a remote control comes with the unit...

oh, pics are just for reference, not units ive actually looked at...

Christmas is coming. My girlfriend used to be pretty big into photgraphy when she was younger (her dad was a pro). When he fell out of the picture (no pun intended) so did the photography...I know she used to really enjoy it and from what work she kept that I've seen, she has an eye for it. Christmas is coming and I think I want to get her a decent camera. I have never really looked purchasing a quality camera before, so don't know what to look for. Hoping for a little advice...money's kind of tight with 3 birthdays (inlcluding hers) coming in the next month then Christmas. Not saying I want a cheap camera for her, just openly admitting I can't spend a ton if you get my drift.
