Hey all, maybe some of you can point me in the right direction as to where to start looking to solve this problem. I went out of town for 8 days and left my 2003 Z Track at home, it wasn't touched by anyone during this time.

I come back and the car fires up perfectly, no problems there at all. However, I am getting zero sound from my speakers. Not even a "whir" sound or static if I turn the volume all the way up. The stock non-bose head unit appears to be function perfectly normal, it is taking cds no problem and no sounds come out of the speakers on both Radio/CD mode. I can change the radio station and shuffle through tracks on a dics without issue.

So...where should I start looking to solve this issue. Could this possible be a fuse? Would it help to disconnect the battery? Thanks in advance!!

I have a 2008 with stock oem radio. It has the 6 speakers with NO sub behind the seat. My 2003 with Bose has the sub of course.
First off I have replaced the whole radio/head with a nice Kenwood.
But I now want to add a sub and amp also. I'm looking at mouting it to the same place as the stock set up behind the seat or going with a Zenclosure.
Here is my MAIN question if anyone knows.
Are the individual speakers the SAME speakers on the Bose and NON Bose systems? All 6 speakers look alike but I'm not sure if they are the same.
I'm just really curious if the Bose and non Bose set ups use all the same speakers except for the issue of the sub woofer being missing from the base model.
thanks, Mike

finished up my sun/mon project with trying to get the interior road noise/vibrations down. Used 200st ft of edesigns sound deadening, 2gal of liquid deadening, and 15sq ft of jute. WOW.. I can actually have a conversation in the car at hwy speeds now. My nismo exhaust use to ring through the cabin,, now its about as quiet as the OEM catback. I used the mat throughout the whole floor, cubby holes, speaker holes, doors, door panels, interior panels, and rear spare tire area- I got about 2-3 layers consistently.Apply the 2gal of liquid over all that, and in the harder to get areas(inner fenderwell), then cut the jute to size and stick it to the liquid sound deadener... worked like a charm. strongly suggest doin this if you want to quite the inside cabin!:icon21:

Hi All,

So I bought a Pioneer F90BT to replace the base head unit in my 06 Z.

I knew something was up when I started removing the center console and there were no screws holding it in place...

Initially I thought the previous owner had been in a hurry to replace the stock head unit - I was pissed but it didn't look as if there was any harm done. Once I got the center console removed I found that the stock head unit was missing the support brackets which should be screwed to each side to fix it to the front inside face of the center console. The only thing holding the stocker in place was two crude home made L-brackets. How it has stayed in place for so long I don't know.

Anyway - my question is - does anyone know if I can buy replacement support brackets from a dealership or are they an integral part of the stock head unit?

Thanks,

Davy.

I see all these crazy subwuffer combinations and whatnot, but the kind of sound I'm looking for is..... the kind of sound you get in an Acura RDX w/Technology Package. Has anyone ever sat in one of those things with the music blasting?! :icon21::icon21: MOST RIDICULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL SOUND EVER. That's what I'm looking for.
Here is my plan. I am going to take off the bose sub bracket and stick a basslink in there after sound proofing the area a little bit.

Here is my plan. I am going to take off the bose sub bracket and stick a basslink in there after sound proofing the area a little bit.
I purchased a david navone Line output converter and an 8 guage amp wiring kit. I intend to buy much shorter RCA cables than what came with the kit so that I can keep the LOC close to the basslink. I will skip the process of running a power cable with fuse to the battery and ground to chassis.

With the LOC's RCA inputs now plugged into the basslink I will then attach my ground and remote out coming from the LOC to the basslink as well.

That leaves me with 4 speaker wires left. A LR +, LR -, RR +, and a RR - and one 12v wire. These are the short wires coming from the LOC.

My intent is to tap into the right rear and left rear speakers to finish the job and hopefully connect the 12v to an accessory port at the fuse box or somewhere near where I tap the speakers.

Any suggestions on where the easiest and best place to get to these speaker wires will be? I originally planned on just doing it right behind the speakers but it seems like a real pain in the butt to take off all those extra panels which have nothing to do with exposing the bose location for this project.

Can I simply access the wires when I take off the rear quarter panels for the sub plate removal?

A little help would be much appreciated. I think this topic could really use a DIY with pics. It seems to be one of the most common mods around here and I plan on taking pics when I do this soon.

Thanks.
