Here is the original thread that the moderators on corvette forum decided to edit (basically, they took out about 50 posts from other forum members away questioning Iconz and their motives. The thread is now pieced together and doesn't flow well, not to mention locked).

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ink-twice.html

Cliff Notes of that thread
- 2 to 3 week expected finish date
- 10 weeks later I received my wheels amid many excuses
- the wrong wheels were sent

Well, they sent out my next set of wheels and I found three things wrong upon inspection.

1. Small Blemishes in the lug holes on two of the wheels (would be covered by the lugs but it's the principle of the matter).

2. No TPMS adapters.

3. The wheel weights were not as they described. When I first inquired about the weight of the wheels they said I could knock a few pounds off with pocket machining and titanium fasteners (he said this would knock off about 4 pounds per wheel, without any reduction the wheels would weigh 26.5 for the 19's and 28.5 for the 20 inch rears). I went with the pocket machining figuring a pound or two would help out a bit. I asked him for exact wheel weights but he never responded, so I figured 2 pounds would probably be about right since the fasteners net about 2 pounds. I figured they would be 24.5 pounds (19 inch) and 26.5 pounds (20 inch) respectively and at worst case 25.5 and 27.5 pounds.

Here are my findings.

19 inch wheel

20 inch wheel

As you can see the 19 inch wheel weighs more than the 20 inch wheel! How can that be? I was quoted a 2 pound difference just between the stock wheel weights. I called Mitch and told him what I found and he asked me to send some pics to see if it had pocket machining. He replies later that it did have pocket machining and he needed to talk to his "engineer". I tell him to forget it and just give me my money back.

Well, here is his email from earlier today.

I spoke to my engineer, this is not a nightmare, and there is no problem
with our manufacturing process. this is a common thing for your car, as a
matter of fact i have done some research and found out that this is very
common.
The reason is that the back pad on the front is larger than on the rear due
to the offsets and fitment for each wheel.

Your wheels are good to go !!!

Attached are pictures i found from a company that weighed some wheels
19 and 20 inch 360 Forged Mesh 10
The front is heavier than the rear.
The front center has more material than the rear center because of the
offset.

thanks,

Here are the pics that he attached in that email.

He claimed the first one to be 19 inches and the second one to be 20 inches. Well, I did some digging and found out he was flat out lying.

Here is the original thread he got it from.

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/m6-...omparison.html

If you scroll down the page you will see the exact wheel pictures he sent me. Notice below both of the wheels they are both described as 20 inch wheels. I was floored when I saw he flat out tried to lie to me. Not to mention the talk with his "engineer" which consisted of him reading the caption from the pics on that weight thread. This was the straw that broke the camels back.

I've replied to his email and told him he was lying through his teeth. I told him I want my money back and nothing else. I will send back his wheels and we both can go our separate ways.

Hey folks, i've been doing research but couldn't decide what to do. I am planning on buying some snow tires for my car. My touring trim line came with TPMS. The thing is I was planning on buying some stockers and put on the snow tires on the stocker. I just did research here and read that if I don't put the TPMS in the new rims it'll throw the (!) code.

So should I just buy the snow tires and switch them and than switch back to high performance tires in spring? I'm a little skeptical about aftermarket rims because I do a lot of city driving and I don't want to bend my aftermarket rims.

Any recommendation?

I weighed the wheels I got in recently and I found something quite odd. They are 3 piece forged wheels that I ordered in 19's and 20's. Well, the vendor originally told me the 19's would come in at around 24 pounds and the rears (20 inch wheels) at 26 pounds with pocket machining. Well, I weighed the wheels and the 19's weigh more than the 20's! The exact weight of the 19's are 27.25 pounds and the weight of the 20's are 26.70 pounds. This is the excuse he gave me.

"The reason is that the back pad on the front is larger than on the rear due
to the offsets and fitment for each wheel."

I call bullchit. Even if he was correct (seriously doubt it) I was still mislead to what my wheel weights should be. Unbelievable.

looking to get my first set of wheels for the Z
want an aggressive look

Wheel I have 99.9% decided on is available in the following specs
Fronts 19" x 9" +25 offset
Rears 19" x 10" +15 offset

First trying to figure what depth of a lip those would have

I don't really know much about offset but from what I have researched, my understanding is that I am looking at

Fronts 19" x 9" +25 offset = 3.5" Lip approx.
Rears 19" x 10" +15 offset = 4.5" Lip approx.
Is that correct?

Also would this require much or any
fender mods
camber adjustments
or spacers
to get a flush look on the Z with a 1" to 1.25" drop.

Lower = Tein Springs
Was just going to lower with tein springs - about 1" to 1.25" all around based on tein catalog.

Tires = Undecided
I would prefer a flushed look rather than stretched and need to research some more.

I have a 2007 350Z Touring. I had two nails in my rear tire that were 8 inches apart. I was told by a tire store that they could not repair the tire because the nails were too close together. If it had been one nail or the other, they each could have been patched individually. I had a friend take a look and he put a plug in the larger hole. He tested the smaller hole (soap/bubble test) several times and could not find a leak but you can visibly see where the rubber has been nicked by the nail. He said I could try putting the tire back on and driving on it, but he wouldn't recommend it.

Do you think I should buy a new tire or try the plugged tire? The tire has 9,500 miles on it.

If I buy a new tire, should I buy the exact same tire that came with it? Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Max Performance Summer 245/45R18 for $239 plus install and tax. If I choose to buy a different brand, should I buy the same type (Max Performance Summer)? There are tires available for $160 from Falken. Is that a recommended brand? What's the difference between Extreme, Max, and Ultra High--Performance Summer?

I just want to make sure that I'm not damaging my other tires and car by having mismatched tires. I'm not planning on selling anytime soon, so I'm not really worried about how it looks or for resale right now. Also, I don't really drive fast, so I am not too concerned with handling for that purpose (only for safety). I currently live in San Antonio but could possibly live in a place with snow in a year or two. I don't really know that much about cars so please bear with me if my questions seem simple. I have pictures of the nail holes before the one was plugged if that helps.

As a side note, I also replaced a front tire AND wheel at 6,000 miles because I hit something on the highway. I replaced it with the original tire but this is getting really expensive! So, I have one front tire with 9,500 miles, one rear tire with 9,500 miles, one front tire with 3,500 miles, and a plugged rear tire with 9,500 that may need to be replaced.

Thank you for any and all advice! Lindy
