Angry Trouble Accessing Site From New Home Laptop (yes I read the sticky)

I just got a new laptop and it will allow the site to come up but it takes 2-5 minutes to load the "new posts". And it's not just one time lagging..... it's every page.

I did read the sticky here from 2007-2008 and was wondering if that's still the solution even though I have windows 8?

my Internet provider who sucks Azz and shall not be named (rhymes with Schediacom) could be the issue, but other sites load fine, just not this forum. It happens with firefox, chrome and IE

Windows 8 is still pretty cumbersome to me so it could be me.

any help would be nice. Hopefully this is an easy fix of me being stupid.

I'll ask the IB techs to answer your question. I'm not sure what the problem is...

Sorry to hear the site's loading so slowly for you, NoQuestionZ. As jhc mentioned, I recommend upgrading to Windows 8.1 if you haven't already. You may also want to check your computer's Firewall settings to make sure that My350Z.com isn't unintentionally blocked.

If you continue to experience slow load times, please let me know and I'll be happy to provide further assistance.

I'm still getting used to the no "start menu" in the tool bar. Where do I go to check this? (Or is it in Internet settings? (Which I'm not used to yet either)

thanks for your help!

W8 is just horrible.. I believe you must make a G account than download the update from the marketplace. 8.1 Is usable and before it I was gonna UPGRADE to W7 lol.

NoQ, 2 things.
If you go to the bottom left tool bar or hit the keyboard button w 4 "window panes"
you can right-clic that to have an almost normal time...

Control panel is still there to update, or you can use the "search" function which is awful.Did I say awful?

2 more things br0ski

1) make sure you are logged on as admin!
2) I wood prolly search for the update utility INSIDE windows, and set it to
"Automatic" rather than external source, but that's just me.

It says I already have 8.1 based on the magnifying glass in the upper right of the start screen. And I can't find the setting to make myself an administrator. I'm seriously regressing in my computer skills

Never mind. I'm over complicating this. I'm an admin, logged in as one.

You can learn about the firewall options and where to find them on Microsoft's Windows how-to site. Generally speaking, the Firewall works on an app level opposed to a website level, but I recommend briefly turning it off to see if the site loads faster for you. If it doesn't, let me know and I can help you further troubleshoot.

Thanks!
