Default Firearm question

Hey got a random question for anyone on here that knows anything about "M4" style assualt rifles with the telescoping stock. Does anyone know what the small, sort of "L" shaped piece secured by a pin on the bottom of the telescoping stock is there for? thx

My socom stock has a button to slide the stock. As others have said, show a pic.

bingo.

the lever is pinned in the middle and has a locking pin in the front. squeezing the aft of the lever causes a cantilever action to disengage the locking pin to allow telescoping of the stock from full open to full closed... and no points in between.

It's for all the bullet-proof deer out there.

it would probably coterize everything it touched, thus leaving the deer unharmed...except for a peephole.

actually that round, the 5.56 is made to bounce around inside of you, not go straight through you. it is a pretty small bullet. only a .223 caliber. same as the M-16

That was the plan, unfortunately for the military, it didn't really work out. The .223 (5.56) has a bad habit of leaving annoying pencil sized holes in people, who then can continue to kill you, since they are often either carrying something chambered in 7.62mm (much bigger holes), or wearing something in the nature of a semtex vest.

Actually, one reason NATO went 5.56 was because they wanted to wound, not kill their targets for two reasons:
1) moral
2) a wounded soldier takes 3 personnel out of the fight (1 to bleed, and two to carry his *** back to the docs).

You should be able to adjust the stock in six positions.

Fresno350 is right m16/m4 basically same thing will go right through you they dont tend to bounce around inside you as was the intended purpose. Granted it will still do the job.
