My father in law just called. Kinda unusual. He wants to get together, because he just bought this 50 caliber machine gun and wants to bring it up to my house
...
tell him to buy a desert deagle
back to main point
for self defence... no way a person needs a machine gun... unless its like dawn of the dead or something...
imo just learn to use a pistol and shoot accurately under pressure(important) thats basically all u need...

If you want self defense, why not work on yourself? work on your confidence, and tone up your body.
My Father in law thinks guns & liquor are everything in life.

I dont.
I just have to put up with it.
what is it, an M2? -- those can be pretty fun... make sure you've got a good 3-4k of range with a decent backstop... .50 cal rounds can actually cause more collateral damage in an urban environment than a 120mm HEAT round ('course, we were using API rounds in the ma-deuce).

it really depends on the situation -- there is no way to catagorically say that "no way a person needs..." whatever whatever...
if I were living on the arizona / california / NM / texas border w/ that other country, i would definitely want a M2... not to mention quite a few land mines and a Mk19... all for EA development -- in that case, I would definitely "need a machine gun for self defense"... a pistol just wouldn't cut it

Dude, what is an M2? educate me I need some conversation so I can talk to this guy...
An M2 (or Ma-Deuce) is a belt-fed .50 cal machine gun that can be fired in single shot or automatic. It was designed by John Moses Browning, same guy who designed the 1911, Browning High Power, etc. It's an awesome machine gun that has stood the test of time and will continue to, just like the 1911.
Here's a pic of one on a tripod and another one mounted on a Hummer (
If he's a civilian, the M-2 wouldn't be that much fun. A .50 cal long gun would though. Let me know if he's got a machine-gun or sniper rifle and I can give you more to talk about.
He said it was on a tripod so I guess it's like the pic you posted. Hey, maybe I could bring that to work with me on Monday & scare the crap out of my boss...

Make sure you break it down into tripod, barrell and receiver group .. weight of the weapon is :
Approximately 128 lbs completely mounted on the M3 tripod =
Receiver group :60lbs
barrell : 24lbs
Tripod 44lbs.

Hey Boofer, if your father-in-law shows up with a M2, you can really freak him out if you say, "I hope you got a head-space and timing gauge". If he knows anything about that thing he'll be all over your niizzzuts after that. Let me know if you need some "ammo" for the encounter.
Maybe your "father in law" want to talk to you about your neighbor girl...
"I own a machine gun, shovel and plenty of land. Believe me, your parents will not miss you!"
exactly what i was thinking
if it's on a tripod, it's probably the M2, i only ever used a light-50 (sniper rifle) on a bipod... but of course, i'm a relative babe-in-the-woods with that weapon... easily the most fun i've ever had with a weapon, though!
M2 rounds. I have some video somewhere. If I find it I can send it to you Boofer.
Hey will you introduce him... (six minutes late)
