Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting my first gun, where should I start?
I have fired .22's, 20 gauge shotgun, and some handguns.
Want it mostly for target practice and also for personal protection.
How much can I expect to pay?
You probably want a handgun then. Go to a range that has a gun store and tell them you're interested in your first purchase but want to shoot a few guns first, that should get you around their rental fees. I prefer 9mm and .40 S&W calibers...just the right amount of recoil for me.

I had a Glock 22 .40 cal. Its a great gun for protection and fun for target practice. It has a lot more stopping power than a 9mm, but a lot cheaper to shoot than a .45
