Default Gun Control (semi-serious)

Those of you who've taken some time to debate policy in the VT Massacre thread probably know where I stand. I know all of us have some different stands. Here's Penn and Teller to make fun of all sides while making some interesting points which I'd especially like the "ban guns" folks to take 28 minutes to listen to. You don't have to agree at all.

People will always be able to get guns if they want to. No laws will really prevent anyone from getting a gun if they really want one.

This kid had plans to do what he did. If he didn't use a gun, he would've made a bomb or something else. No stricter laws will stop someone who REALLY wants to get one.

the stricter laws basically make it harder for the honest guys to get guns legally......that's all.

^^^ Thank you. Gun control only keeps the guns out of the hands of honest, law abiding citizens.

+1 QFT

I'd love to see statistics on registered/licensed gun related deaths versus unregistered guns.

If there was a magic wand that would make all the guns here disappear, 90% of us would agree to go ahead with that.

But we can't so got to protect ourself, gun for gun. at least that's how I see it.

Did you hear. They are taking away our freedom of speech too!!!!!
Losing the 1st amendment!!! You can no longer practice your religion. That right is gone. Better not talk trash about the government either. Or they will pull you out of your house and torture you until you admit to the virginia tech murders. Then they will make you testify against yourself. Yep, your 5th amendment is gona as well.

For some reason, people are so willing to give up their 2nd, but get REALLY jumpy if you talk about taking away ANY other right.

My 2nd protects your 1st.

I believe it was last year that in VA they banned people with CCW's from carrying on college campuses. I find it ironic that a faculty member from VA. Tech was quoted as saying that the ban makes everyone safer. Wonder if things would've turned out different yesterday if someone in that classroom had a CCW and was allowed to carry on campus.

It is probably best to discuss the gun control issues in here and not in the V-tech thread.

the VA student was a lawy abiding student...
other than gang members poeple with unstable conditions can easily jsut purchase a gun.

Better regulations are needed for gun control, basically more requierments..

but that is a stupid way to second guess yourself.. you saying now that we should allow people to carry guns in plans cause if passengers had had a guns as Carry-ons they could have stopped the united 93 plane crash?

thats all retarded. YAH lets make all this like the old wild wild west... everybody has a gun, you have a problem and get shot, everybody can shoot another person cause they have a gun and point self defense....
