Just wrapped up basic for the AF last week, glad to be back in touch with the world. Looks like there's been several purchases made since I left a few months ago. I might have to catch up...
I remember when I went through basic. I'm glad I didn't have it for 8 weeks or so like you guys. Are you reserve/guard, or AD? What's your AFSC?
I'm reserve and my AFSC is 2t2x, nothing exciting.
As for the 8 week program. Wow, lots of down time. We spent countless hours of sitting in silence in the day room. The instructors are still in 6 week frame of mind. A 3 hour class would be wrapped up in less than a hour. BEAST was pretty fun for the most part, could have been a little more in depth.
I will say that going from basic to tech school is a joke. It was amazing to watch 8 weeks of training disapear in less than 3 hours for some people.
LOL, all that BMT stuff went out the door for me when I got to my first duty station. BMT is nothing like the real AF imo. For reference I am an E-5 active duty, so I know for the most part how the AF runs. Being in the maintenance field is like its own cliche. Totally different than some office job.

haha don't you worry, the 6 1/2 week program had that too lol....
I was surprised however at field training, that didn't have near the down time that BMT did....
