Ok, so i started a LLC for my little construction business. Is there a way i can use the LLC to purchase body armor? And is that considered class whatever?
If not, how do i go about getting it? Im about to go train with a private defense contractor and im required to bring my own armor and weapons. I haev the weapons and gear down, but as im not a LE or current millitary, i have no idea about how to get that part of the gear... any help would be great considering my limited knowledge of this.
I bought a surplus vest for no real reason from these guys due to being in Texas: http://www.bulletproofme.com/
but the website is currently down.
They suck to wear, and the ones that really offer great protection(several SMG's 9mm rounds), are rather bulky. I put on a rifle protection one, up to I think a .30-06, and I could barely move.
well im looking to get dragon skin. Ive read a good deal about it. A couple of my buddies used it in their last tour and loved it. While i think it allows more skin trauma, it does SEEM to stop the larger AK rounds. He brought home a video of one supressing a gernade blast when placed over it with a 100lb sand sack on top of it.
Id have to wear and see some more evidence of it, but their experience says its A+.
I had juts heard that was possible, and i was under the impression the body armor bane was a fed thing. thank god for Texas.
thats what ive decided on, even with the permits to operate in our state LA and texas, miss, alabama (private defence/excort) it was goign to be hell to get the papers to wear armor in those states. In LA, i know (as my uncle the attourney says) it would have been illegal for me to pass within 200yards of any public school wearing it... WTF? at some of our local schools i wouldnt go within 200yards of it without armor! the paper work is hell. A buddy of mine still in the corps ordered two of the dragon skins. two deff models, ill see how they fit and feel. Expensive ****.
And to answer kut, as part of operating in conjunction with local LE (not state), we are required to wear armor, its a insurance risk for the PD. The dragon skin is the lightest, most "breathing", per balistic protection you can buy today. And with our heat and humidity down here, its a big plus to get all the protection i can while being as comfy and concealed as possible.

however, Dragon skin is not condusive to a law enforcement application (swat, ERTs, etc divisions exempted)

if you haven't found one already... look at MSA Paraclete armor. The Alpha and Bravo lines are both concealable and are the most comfortable vests i've seen to date.
I work for MSA Paraclete, in the plant that makes every vest and vest attachment they have. We just finished a few huge orders for DHS, Border Patrol, IRS, and Army.
At the time, we are the only company offering a complete armor package that complies with the new NIJ06 standards. I have personally evaluated HUNDREDS of tested armor panels, which had been put through either a resistance test (standard handgun loads and velocities) or a V50 Penetration Test (velocity at which there is complete penetration). On average, for our vests, the velocity must be at LEAST 400-500 FPS faster than you will get out of any handgun in order to penetrate.
Of course i'm a bit biased, but if you get the chance to try on our vests you will see why.
There is no federal law restricting private citizens from purchasing body armor. And in CA, there is no such law, provided you aren't a felon, either. (I can't say for all states however...)
Most of these companies who manufacture body armor refuse to sell to any business but the DoD or Law Enforcement Agencies. In the case of Dragon Skin (Pinnacle Armor) and Interceptor Body Armor (Point Blank Body Armor Inc.) neither will sell to the public and instead only sell to LEA's and the DoD.
Depending on the level of protection you want, you can go with either "soft" armor (fabric weave type) or "hard" armor (also known as plate carriers.) bulletproofme.com has a lot of resources and info.
Be VERY CAREFUL of purchasing used or "new" Interceptor Body Armor off of ebay as there has been quite a bit of incidents of the product being stolen from the DoD (and some counterfeits IIRC).
Should cost between $300 and $600 for soft armor and up to $1200+ for plate carrier and plates (if you get the really expensive lightweight plastic stuff...)
i personally own the paraclete setup as well as the eagle industries. they both contain the level 3A along with the level 4 plates to go with them. ive used both of them in iraq.

i like them both, the only reason i have the paraclete is a buddy of mine with force didnt need and he got rid of it, so i use it along with my eagle industries setup
depends, what exactly are you looking for? concealed, over vest, soft, plated... in what capacity. I think the average citizen should steer clear of concealed stuff.much better to have an armored tactical vest that you can trow on is a sec's notice.
