Last I heard.

Limits Handgun ammo sales to 50 rounds a month.
All(or only Handgun) must be done FTF at a Dealer. No more mail order.

Last I knew it had passed the Senate and House. Was on the Governor's desk. Basics of what I know on it.

Thumb print required to buy ammo (kept on file at store no database or anything yet...)

Ammo must be kept in locked storage to prevent customer access (no jumping the counter and grabbing ammo)

No mail order ammo to CA. (Companies won't ship to a CA address will be my guess)

The 50 round a month restriction got dropped.

I think this is the latest version http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/09-10/bil..._enrolled.html

this bill is up to no good.
BGs will start stocking up on ammo for another year creating a run on ammo and ammo shortages everywhere.

Doesn't mean sh*t to the BG. The gangs already reload to make their rounds hotter out there.

It has not passed yet. Given the number of bills that Arnold signed from DeLeon, odds are he is not going to sign this, also he has ALREADY signed laws into effect that do similar things.

Don't let up though. If the bill isn't vetoed it goes into effect automatically.

God Cali sucks for pretty much everything huh? I don't even need a license to open carry in my state.

well we are also notorious for our emissions laws as well. they have increased the state taxes and doubled registration taxes on our automobiles too.

i just read in the paper today that our legislator's approval ratings are at an all time low of 13%...well deserved

Our legistlators are horrible. Can't settle a budget, can't pass workable laws, can't do anything, really. Just a bunch of special-interest hacks trying to push their own individual agendas amidst rampant corruption, all the while kissing the right butts to get re-elected.

What's the reasoning behind the bill? To purposely make it more difficult to purchase ammo?

Yes it was signed.

Effective Feb 1, 2011 in CA you will need to provide ID and a thumbprint (or any available finger if you are missing your thumbs). to buy handgun ammo. It requires ammo sales to be face to face. Not sure how mail order is going to work. Like I said before my guess will be they will quit shipping to CA.

The supposed theory is that this will make it harder for criminals to buy ammo. No I can't begin to explain the logic behind how that argument works.

Time to buy a whole bunch of ammo...

It doesn't work. Evidently its been proven the gangs have started to reload to make their ammo hotter anyway.

The Neo-cons are trying to take away our rights and to re-write our Constitution! Sometimes I feel it's more a matter of "when", not of "if"! Bail-outs for multi-millionaire bankers, more and more rights for homosexuals, the pro-abortion movement advocates...
