I have a sig SP2022 9mm. It's a great / accurate gun, but a little larger then what I'd like. I want something super easy to carry and conceal. It's compact, I want sub compact.
I was thinking.. would it be terribly difficult to find someone to trade me a little XD40 or something?
do you guys know of any sites that are safe to use for firearm's trading? or would I have to sell this off, and buy an XD40? trading is more appealing since it tends to include accessories.. I have really nice custom fit holsters for mine and it would be cool to find a trade that includes some holsters as well.
are there legal issues I need to be concerned about while trading? if I found a local, would we have to go to a shop and use an FFL holder to do the trade and get the names swapped? if I found someone online, what complications would that add?
thanks guys. it looks like it will be easiest and i'll lose the least amount of money if I sell mine and buy new. swap over to a .40 round gun in the process since I can't get the fiance to fire the damn gun even at 9mm. lol
can't you take it to a local gun store to trade? Most reputable stores will give you an okay price. I would do that just so you can make sure the XD is in perfect condition when leaving the store....BTW cant go wrong with an XD or glock.
while we are at it, I would love to hear some suggestions of sub compacts to consider.
XD40 .. p220, p226, p229 .. still looking around.
P220, 226 are full size, P229 is compact but its wide and not near subcompact size.
The XDSC, is an amazing shooter. I have a 5" XD, and I rented a 3" SC and at indoor ranges, it was just as accurate as the 5" model. Great little tack driver, and with the new flush mags they hold 13 + 1, 16+1 w/extended mag. If you want a .40SC you can always get a 9mm barrel.
As soon as I shot it, it was added to my "to buy" list, give em a shot.
My XD is at 4050rds now, never any issues, it feeds anything and always goes bang.
thats what I like to hear. thanks - I did more research and figured out the 226/229 etc are all too large, I just recalled wanting them before I purchased this.
does the trigger bother you on the XD40? it seems glock-style, and glock triggers bug the hell out of me :[
if the glock trigger bothers you or seems to heavy, you can always put a lighter trigger on it for around 15 dollars. Dont quote me but I believe it takes the standard glock trigger (5.5lbs) to around 3lbs. I have all 5 of my glocks with lighter triggers. The difference is amazing.
lol. Hmmmm, a P226 is pretty accurate if you're looking for an accurate distribution.
P226 is a pretty accurate weapon to qualify but I can't comment on it taking down a bad guy.

The trigger/safety doesnt bother me at all. You NEVER know its there, even the grip safety when holding the pistol correctly is non existant in feeling to me. The P2000SK is a sweet a$$ pistol but pricey, take a look.
Go rent an XD subcompact, I guarantee you, you will like it.
I have rented Glocks several times, I respect their abilities, and dont look down on them, but I hate their trigger feel and grip angle, I just cat shoot them well. Most any other guy I pick up, Xd/XdM, Ruger SR9, Sig 229, 226, 1911's, H&K's I shoot awesome well almost immediately.
I played with my buddies glock last night and am going to go to the range this weekend. I think the trigger used to bother me because the last time I fired it (coincidentally also my first time out shooting), I pulled the trigger in the crease of my finger as opposed to on the pad. the trigger didn't bother me at all last night, didn't notice the safety like you said.
XD is on the top of my list right now. probably making a decision this weekend.
You want to squeeze the trigger with the end of your finger, for precision ideally the tip. Using any other part of the finger is going to force the gun to the right and encourages pulling the gun up right before the trigger breaks, as well as jerking the gun.
Using too much trigger finger will reduce the trigger pull and strength required, but it's a bad habit. If you dont like the trigger when shooting the right way, don't change your shooting habits to overcome this issue.
If you want a hi-cap gun, then look towards the XDm to override the trigger issue, otherwise you will need a trigger job, or 1911. The XD has a nice trigger once the slack is taken up, and too has a better grip angle, so the trigger doesnt seems as pivoting as glocks, and thus breaks cleaner. The XD might be enough for you to find the a comfortable trigger.
